Road to Glory (Episode Five)
In a marathon effort in more ways than one, Jake Sheridan scored the win in Saturday's NTN Triple Crown 175 at Peterborough Speedway.
The NTN Triple Crown 175 marked the first race of the NTN Triple Crown, consisting of the three extra-distance races for the APC United Late Model Series schedule. Saturday's race at Peterborough ended up being a little longer than everyone bargained for, however, with a rain delay prior to the start of the race and an extended red flag for fluid cleanup.
Despite the wait, Sheridan made his time at Peterborough worthwhile, leading the final 60 laps to win his second straight APC United Late Model Series race.
Coming off a win last time out at Flamboro Speedway, Sheridan had plenty of momentum ahead of the NTN Triple Crown 175. He enjoyed every second of the extended-distance race, delays and all.
"What a fun race," said Sheridan. "It sucked for the oil dry there and the delays. I hate it for everybody with the rain, I hate it for the fans. Man, what a fun race. Those extended distance races, like the Triple Crown deals, I'm all about that, man.
"It's so much fun and you could kind of have fun, man. You can play with the guys. The first half of the race, we had a really, really good car. Still, we had to do it. I cannot say enough about these guys, man. That pit stop, we made one small adjustment, which I thought, you know, wasn't gonna be a big deal. I thought we were close, and it made the car even better."
Sheridan is now a six-time winner with the APC United Late Model Series. He also won at Peterborough during the 2025 season in the Spectra Premium 100, as well as the Electric City 167 at the track during the Autumn Colours Classic.
Brandon Watson finished second, keeping pressure on Sheridan in their battle atop the APC United Late Model Series standings to start the 2026 season. While Watson is still searching for his first win this year, the series' all-time winningest driver believes he's just an adjustment or two away from returning to victory lane.
"I can't thank these Port City guys enough," said Watson. "We've just got a little bit more work to do to get the car dialed in a bit better, but they gave me a great piece to start the year. Hopefully we can get her going again good at Delaware for the next race."
Connor Pritiko finished third, passing Josh Stade with a bump-and-run on lap 172. While Stade expressed his displeasure with the late-race move, Pritiko considered it payback for an incident one year ago.
"It was pretty wild there," said Pritiko. "I owed the 17 there for last year, what he did at Sauble. It's funny, when a guy who doesn't really push back against people pushes back, finally they get all hot and mad.
"They can stick it where the sun doesn't shine. We had a bad fast car there. Danny Benedict and the crew made some great changes to this thing."
Stade finished fourth, with Kyle Steckly rounding out the top five.
In two weeks, the APC United Late Model Series returns to Delaware Speedway for the ACDelco Canada Day Classic 159. Fans can watch that event live on RacingAmerica.TV on June 27.
