Starting Lineup: NASCAR Cup Series Bass Pro Shops Night Race at Bristol

A.J. Allmendinger qualified on the pole for Saturday's Bass Pro Shops Night Race, setting fast time around the 0.533-mile Bristol Motor Speedway during Friday's qualifying session.

It is Allmendinger's fifth career NASCAR Cup Series pole position, and his first in more than 10 years. Allmendinger's last pole came during qualifying for the NASCAR Cup Series event at Watkins Glen International on August 9, 2015.

Allmendinger clocked in at 15.117 seconds, three thousandths of a second ahead of Ryan Blaney. Blaney's Team Penske teammate, Austin Cindric, qualified third, with Ty Gibbs and Kyle Larson rounding out the top five.

Denny Hamlin, winner at World Wide Technology Raceway one week ago, qualified sixth, with William Byron, Bubba Wallace, Josh Berry and Christopher Bell making up the rest of the top 10.

The Bass Pro Shops Night Race takes the green flag at 7:30 p.m. ET on Saturday, September 13. Coverage of the event can be found on USA Network, the Performance Racing Network and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.
