Valvoline Global, Hendrick Motorsports and Blood Cancer United are teaming up to bring awareness to pediatric blood cancer during Blood Cancer Awareness Month.
William Byron's No. 24 Valvoline Chevrolet will feature a special paint scheme during the ROVAL 400 at Charlotte Motor Speedway, scheduled for October 5.
“Together, we are truly unstoppable in our mission to create a brighter future for children with blood cancer,” said E. Anders Kolb, MD, President and Chief Executive Officer at Blood Cancer United. “With the support of our partner, Valvoline Global, and in collaboration with Hendrick Motorsports, we are able to share our message of hope with millions of fans around the world and drive forward our shared goal of a better tomorrow.”
Byron, along with Hendrick Motorsports Vice Chairman Jeff Gordon, will join patients and their families at the Atrium Health Levine Children's Hospital in Charlotte, North Carolina for the official unveiling of the car design. The design was created by four pediatric blood cancer survivors asked to symbolize their happiness.
The No. 24 Valvoline Chevrolet show car will appear at Valvoline Global's Lexington, Kentucky headquarters to celebrate the company's support of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's new name, Blood Cancer United. The September event will give Valvoline employees an opportunity to celebrate the cause and their efforts for children with blood cancer.
“At Valvoline Global, we are driven by our enduring purpose to inspire and enable what – and who – moves the world forward,” said Jamal Muashsher, President and CEO at Valvoline Global. “Our work with Blood Cancer United is a testament to this commitment, and we are honored to continue supporting this worthy cause to create a better tomorrow for these children and their families.”
Blood Cancer United's Dare to Dream Project is a $175 million initiative seeking to transform treatment and care for children with blood cancer.
Byron will be joined by the four Honored Heroes who contributed to the paint scheme. They will be hosted by Valvoline Global to see their artwork firsthand during the NASCAR Cup Series event.
“This paint scheme is more than just colors on a race car – it represents courage, hope and the incredible spirit of the young patients who created it,” said Byron. “Carrying their artwork at my hometown race, with a partner like Valvoline Global that is dedicated to such an important cause, makes it even more special.
"We’re fortunate to have a world-class facility like Levine Children’s Hospital here in Charlotte, but not every family has that kind of access. Our team is proud to shine a light on the fight against pediatric blood cancer and celebrate these inspiring kids.”
