Crossroads With the Burtons
Dawson Sutton enjoyed a return to his home track on Thursday night, winning the Rackley Roofing Battle of Broadway 150 at the Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway.
Sutton was fastest in qualifying to start the evening in Nashville, but started seventh after the pre-race redraw. By lap 59, Sutton was back out front, taking the top spot from fellow Nashville track champion Jackson Boone.
From there, Sutton led the rest of the way to start his homecoming weekend with a win. He hopes to add another marquee Late Model win later this year at Nashville, when he returns to defend his All American 400 title.
"It was a great night," said Sutton in victory lane. "I just can't thank my whole Rackley W.A.R. team enough for giving me this piece. It's a really, really good car. I think we showed that in the race as well. Overall, just a great night and I'm excited to come back for the All American again and get that one twice."
Tomorrow night, Sutton continues his full-time NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series campaign at Nashville Superspeedway in nearby Lebanon, Tennessee. The 2024 Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway track champion and 2025 All American 400 winner added another guitar trophy to his collection on Thursday night and hopes to continue the trend on Friday.
"That's one thing I've always wanted is a guitar," said Sutton. "I feel like I have a few of them now, which is nice. I think I have three or four, so going to start racking them up and hopefully get one tomorrow night."
Brett Robinson bounced back from a devastating crash in the last Pro Late Model event at Nashville to finish second in the Battle of Broadway. Aidan Potter finished third, with Hunter Wright and Jackson Boone rounding out the top five.
Prior to the Pro Late Model 150-lap feature, Jamie Sites won the 30-lap Street Stock contest. Chad Chaffin finished second, followed by Chuck Barnes, Jr., Ayden Oliver and Michael Pannell.
The next event at Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway is scheduled for Saturday, June 27. Pro Late Models, Street Stocks, Limited Late Models, Pure Stocks, Front Runners, Legends, and Bandoleros.
