Must See Racing series officials announced on Tuesday that the series' Buckeye State Shootout at Midvale Speedway will not take place this Saturday, July 19 as scheduled.
With rain and thunderstorms predicted on both Saturday and in the week leading up to the race, track and series officials have made the difficult decision to cancel racing for the weekend.
"Due to the weeklong predicted rain and thunderstorms, Must See Racing and Midvale Motor Speedway officials have made the decision to cancel the Saturday, July 19, 2025 Must See Racing Sprint Car event," said Jim Hanks of Must See Racing.
"This early decision is based on the consistent and current Weather Channel forecast predicting thunderstorms on Wednesday (70%), Thursday (90%), Friday (25%), Saturday race day (80%) and Sunday (80%) and is our best effort to do the right thing for everyone involved to avoid unnecessary and avoidable lost time and expenses for the race teams, the race track and the valued race fans.
"Additionally, based on the track's experience, the amount of predicted rain leading up to race day would produce uncontrollable subsurface 'water bleeders' on the track, creating an unsafe condition for the high-powered sprint cars.
No makeup date for the event has been announced at this time. Fans are encouraged to stay tuned to mustseeracing.com and midvalespeedway.com for further updates.
The next scheduled event for the Must See Racing Sprint Cars is a mid-week show, taking place at Sandusky Speedway on Wednesday, July 23. The Bob Frey Classic is part of the Hy-Miler Week of Speed at Sandusky, leading up to Hy-Miler Supermodified Nationals.
