Ross Chastain won the Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway on Sunday night, chasing down and passing William Byron in the closing laps.
Byron was searching for his second crown jewel victory of the season after winning the Daytona 500 in February. However, Chastain utilized fresher tires to pass Byron with six laps to go and claim the biggest win of his career to date.
Chastain started last in the 40-car field after crashing during practice on Saturday and missing out on the qualifying session. However, the backup car for the No. 1 Trackhouse Racing team was up to the task, charging through the field for the win.
Chase Briscoe finished third, followed by A.J. Allmendinger and Brad Keselowski. Chase Elliott, Michael McDowell, Christopher Bell, Ryan Preece and Noah Gragson rounded out the top 10.
