D.J. Shaw didn't have to wait nearly as long to get back to victory lane at Oxford Plains Speedway.
On Saturday evening, Shaw won in the Oxford Championship Series Super Late Model feature, snapping a three-year drought at the track dating back to 2022.
With that victory and a provisional starting spot in the All That's Metal Oxford 250 later in August in his back pocket, Shaw won the Pro All Stars Series (PASS) Stearns & Daughters 150 at Oxford on Sunday afternoon. Shaw took the lead from Brandon Barker on lap 122, then held on to the top spot after a restart with 10 laps to go.
While Austin Teras and Johnny Clark battled for the runner-up spot behind him on the final run, Shaw stretched out a two-second advantage.
"We fell way behind at the start there," said Shaw. "Lanes weren't working for us and we were able to just navigate through. The car really wasn't that good to start. It was worse to start than last night and better to finish, I would say."
The win added to Shaw's PASS points lead, and the sweep established him as one of the names to watch on August 22-24 during the Oxford 250.
"All in all, a heck of a race car. Shortened my winless drought here from three years to, like, 16 hours, so pretty proud of that. I just can't wait to get back here in a couple of weeks."
"This Bar Harbor Bank & Trust machine was pretty fast today. We snuck a couple of Earnest Performance shocks out of the back door of the shop this week, and that was the ticket this weekend. Hooked this thing up, and we're ready to go."
Just like on Saturday night, Austin Teras finished second to Shaw on Sunday. While it was a pair of strong showings, Teras is still searching for a little more speed after the final weekend of competition at Oxford Plains before Oxford 250 weekend. Still, Teras tipped his cap to the clean, respectful racing at the front of the field on Sunday.
"We ran second, and that was probably better than we deserved. DJ had to stink up the show all weekend, props to them," said Teras. "They did an awesome job. Johnny raced me good. I mean, everybody raced good up front, I thought. It was a good race.
"Yesterday, we probably deserved to run second. Today, maybe a top five. You know, racing those people that we raced today, they're really good to race with and they didn't take anything. I definitely owe them next time."
Johnny Clark, the 2020 Oxford 250 winner, has steadily been getting his Oxford Plains program back on track, including a runner-up finish in the Memorial Day Clash 200 in May. The six-time PASS champion rounded out Sunday's podium with a third-place finish.
"We're working hard at it, harder than any other track, of course, with the 250 being here and the bigger races. It's getting so close, but still a little ways out. Today, we fought forward drive. I think most people did. Nothing to shake our heads at, we started 17th and brought it home third and in one piece and was fighting for second there at the end."
The All That's Metal Oxford 250 weekend takes place on August 22-24 at Oxford Plains Speedway. The full weekend of racing includes the Sunoco 150 on Friday and a Milton CAT American-Canadian Tour doubleheader on Friday and Saturday ahead of the PASS Oxford 250 on Sunday.
