Nitro Motorsports is set to return to Trans Am Series competition this weekend as the championship travels to Watkins Glen International for the seventh round of the 2026 season. The team will field a six-car lineup, bringing another strong contingent to one of North America's most iconic road racing circuits.

Representing Nitro Motorsports this weekend will be:

  • Ethan Tovo
  • Jackson Tovo
  • Gian Buffomante
  • Cale Phillips
  • Vinnie Meskelis
  • Jay Thomas

Ethan and Jackson Tovo enter the event sitting fourth and seventh in the TA2 drivers’ championship as well as second and third in the race for Rookie of the Year honors. Buffomante sits just outside the top-ten in points and will look to catapult himself forward at Watkins Glen. After missing a few races in 2026, Vinnie Meskelis returns to the driver lineup and is joined by Jay Thomas who makes the switch from the Toyota GR Cup North America program to make his first Trans Am Series start at Watkins Glen. Cale Phillips is the lone Nitro Motorsports entry in the Pro/Am division and enters the weekend second in the championship table, only 40 markers behind the current leader with a lot of racing action left this season.

Following a busy stretch of racing across multiple series, Nitro Motorsports enters the weekend focused on continuing the progress shown throughout the season.

"Watkins Glen is one of those tracks every driver and team looks forward to,” explained Nitro Motorsports Co-Owner Nick Tucker. “It's fast, technical, and really rewards teams that have done their homework. We've continued to make gains throughout the season, and I think this group has shown that we're capable of racing at the front. We've got a talented lineup this weekend, and I'm excited to see what everyone can accomplish as we head into the second half of the championship."

Fresh off an ARCA Menards Series victory at Lime Rock Park with former Trans Am Series driver Thomas Annunziata, Nitro Motorsports is looking to carry the momentum into a new weekend, at a different track and in a different series as they grow their motorsports efforts.

With six competitive entries and momentum continuing to build, Nitro Motorsports heads to Watkins Glen looking to add another strong chapter to its 2026 Trans Am campaign. The race weekend begins Thursday with testing, before practice and qualifying take place on Friday. Race one will be contested on Saturday, while race two will conclude the weekend on Sunday. Fans can watch both races live on the Trans Am Series YouTube channel or on RacingAmerica.tv.
