No stranger to the racetrack’s road course layout, Brabham laid down an incredible lap time in Saturday’s 15-minute qualifying session, getting around the 2.439-mile road course in 1:21.989.
Matthew Brabham (No. 16 Gymweed Ford Mustang) wasn’t going to be denied his hometown pole at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
No stranger to the racetrack’s road course layout, Brabham laid down an incredible lap time in Saturday’s 15-minute qualifying session, getting around the 2.439-mile road course in 1:21.989 – nearly a full second quicker than second-place Martin Ragginger.
Brabham has been a dominant force in the Trans Am Series by Pirelli, having now swept the first six poles in the TA Class in 2026. The 21-time Trans Am winner will look to further build upon his extensive resume with a hometown victory on Sunday.
Martin Ragginger, back in the TA Class this weekend at Indianapolis, was second-fastest in qualifying, with Paul Menard in third. Chris Dyson and Tomy Drissi completed the top-five, separated from first-to-fifth by 3.8 seconds.

Cole Moore and Jim Guthrie have been fighting for race wins, and the points lead all season in the TA Cup Class of the Trans Am Series by Pirelli, and this weekend at Indianapolis Motor Speedway’s Road Course is no exception, as they qualified 1-2 for the event.
Moore posted the fastest lap of the TA Class drivers in qualifying, posting a 1:24.851 seconds (a whopping six seconds faster than his best lap in practice), and beating Guthrie by three tenths of a second.
Ken Sutherland was third, with Phil Fogg, Jr. and Ken Thwaits rounding out the top-five.
Moore will roll from fourth overall, with Guthrie sixth, Sutherland ninth, and Fogg in 11th.

Bill Goforth turned the tables on his son Brent in Saturday’s qualifying session for the GT1 Challenge at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, reversing the order of the two Big Dog Foundation Piers-sponsored machines from practice when it mattered most.
The No. 99 Chevrolet Corvette posted a lap time of 1:28.669 to secure the pole in the two-person class for this weekend, while the No. 98 Chevrolet Camaro, driven by Brent Goforth, was just three tenths of a second slower.
In practice, the father-son duo was separated by only a half-tenth of a second.

Zach Arnold has managed to do something Saturday at Indianapolis that not many have been able to accomplish in the Trans Am SGT Class in 2026: beat Chris Coffey. Arnold, driving the No. 72 Arnold Machine Porsche GT3 Cup laid down a time of 1:30.398 to secure the pole.
Chris Coffey was second-place, 1.4 seconds behind Arnold. Patrick Utt was third, with Milton Grant and Tim Gray rounding out the top five. Arnold has had a significant advantage over his competitors in the SGT Class all weekend long, leading practice by an even larger margin than he did qualifying.
Arnold will start 17th overall in the TA/TAC/GT/GT1/SGT event on Sunday.

In his GT Class debut, Matthew Butson has put his No. 51 3DBioCAD / XTCERA / Butson Racing Howe HR6 on the pole at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, narrowly beating out CUBE 3 Architecture TA2 Series full-timer Adrian Wlostowski for the top spot in Saturday’s 15-minute qualifying session.
Derric Carter, the Trans Am Series by Pirelli GT Class points leader, qualified third, with Brion Gluck holding down the fourth position.
Butson will start 21st overall in the TA/TAC/GT/GT1/SGT event on Sunday.
