Lanie Buice will make her Whelen Mazda MX-5 Cup debut this weekend, competing with BSI Racing at VIRginia International Raceway on August 21-23.
BSI Racing announced its lineup for Rounds 9 and 10 at VIRginia International Raceway. Buice, along with Spencer Bucknum and Gianni Maiuro, join the team's lineup for the weekend alongside championship contender Bobby Gossett, Ellie Gossett, Julian DaCosta and Christian Hodneland.
Buice, a winner in Trans Am TA2 Western Championship competition earlier this season at Sonoma Raceway, adds to an already robust racing schedule for 2026. Along with competing full-time in the CUBE 3 Architecture TA2 Series, Buice has also earned four top-five finishes in four ARCA Menards Series starts, raced in Late Model competition, and more throughout the course of the season.
“This weekend really represents what BSI Racing is about,” said Shea Holbrook, owner of BSI Racing. “We have Bobby fighting for a championship, Ellie, Julian and Christian continuing to develop within the series, and now Lanie, Spencer and Gianni coming into MX-5 Cup from completely different racing backgrounds. Whether a driver is coming from Spec Miata, GR Cup, TA2 or ARCA, we want BSI to be a place where talented drivers can continue learning, competing and taking that next step in their careers.”
Buice's CUBE 3 Architecture TA2 Series debut took place at VIRginia International Raceway last September. Buice worked her way into the top five during that race before a mechanical issue sidelined her 10 laps shy of the finish.
The Whelen Mazda MX-5 Cup will battle twice at VIRginia International Raceway this weekend. Race 1 is scheduled for Saturday, August 22 at 5:45 p.m. ET, with Race 2 scheduled for 3:30 p.m. ET on Sunday, August 23. The series is competing alongside the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship at the Alton, Virginia facility this weekend.
