Race Results: NASCAR Cup Series DuraMax Texas Grand Prix at COTA
Mar 1, 2026
One streak continued and another ended in Sunday's NASCAR Cup Series DuraMax Texas Grand Prix at Circuit of The Americas.
Tyler Reddick snapped Shane van Gisbergen's string of road course dominance in NASCAR's premier series while maintaining his stranglehold on the 2026 season. The California driver piloted the No. 45 23XI Racing Toyota to a third-consecutive win to start the year, an unmatched feat in the 78-year history of the NASCAR Cup Series.
Reddick led 58 of the race's 95 laps and fended off none other than Van Gisbergen in the closing laps to secure the victory and continue his record-setting start to the season.
"It means the world," said Reddick. "It's so fitting, you know. We get going at the end there, and I'm leading, and there's SVG. The guy I've been trying to beat for a while now. To be able to outlast him there and hold on for the win is just incredible.
"I'm just really proud of everyone on this Chumba Casino Toyota Camry, everyone at 23XI. We worked really hard. We did not like getting beat like that at road courses. It's one race, but it was so important, so fitting that we were able to get three in a row and make history."
While SVG was not a threat to Reddick for most of the day, leading two laps after qualifying 13th, his late-race presence put pressure on Reddick to execute in the closing laps.
"Just trying to remember everything that I knew was going to important there at the end and minimize mistakes," said Reddick. "That's what Shane is so good at, he does not make mistakes. I certainly made a couple, just doing everything I could to just manage the gap, and just stay away from him, if you know what I mean. If I let him get close enough, it was going to probably be hard to hold him off."
While Reddick felt he made mistakes in the final laps, van Gisbergen did not spot them from his viewpoint as the runner-up.
"It's weird for me, disappointed with second," said van Gisbergen. "The series is just at a high level. I felt okay. We got our SafetyCulture Chevy a lot better than yesterday. Just following Tyler, his driving was immaculate and his car was very good, too. I tried, but didn't quite have enough, but still a great points day for the 97."
Michael Jordan, co-owner of 23XI Racing, was once again at the track and part of the post-race celebration after Reddick's historic win.
"It was time for change, and the guys feel the same thing," said Jordan. "Tyler came in with the most pressure, I guess. He had a chance to win three in a row. That's the hardest one to win, you know? He kept to his strategy, and the guys put together a great car. Billy did an unbelievable job calling the race.
"Tyler did a good job, he beat some good competition. You see SVG coming back there, you get a little nervous. I think he had them covered pretty much the whole day."
Last year's winner at Circuit of The Americas, Christopher Bell, finished third, followed by Ty Gibbs and Michael McDowell.
The next stop for the Cup Series is the Straight Talk Wireless 400 at Phoenix Raceway on Sunday, March 8. Coverage airs at 3:30 p.m. ET on FS1, the Motor Racing Network and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.
