William Byron capped off a dominating performance in the NASCAR Cup Series Xfinity 500 at Martinsville Speedway with a win, sending him to the Championship 4 next week at Phoenix Raceway.
Byron flexed his muscle throughout Sunday afternoon at Martinsville, leading 304 of the race's 500 laps. He was also fast when it mattered, passing Ryan Blaney for the lead with 44 laps to go to score a crucial victory.
With the win, Byron joins Chase Briscoe, Denny Hamlin and Hendrick Motorsports teammate Kyle Larson in the fight for the NASCAR Cup Series title next week.
Blaney finished second, needing a win to move on to the Championship 4. Chase Elliott finished third, followed by Ross Chastain and Larson.
Larson's fifth-place finish secured him enough points to take the final spot in the Championship 4 ahead of Christopher Bell. Bell finished seventh in Sunday's race.
The NASCAR Cup Series Championship Race takes place next Sunday, November 2, at 3 p.m. ET at Phoenix Raceway. Coverage of the event will be on NBC, the Motor Racing Network and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.
