Chase Briscoe earned his second consecutive Cook Out Southern 500 victory, holding off Tyler Reddick and Erik Jones in the closing laps for the crown jewel win.
Briscoe led 309 of the race's 367 laps in a dominant showing throughout the evening in the Labor Day tradition. However, a late-race charge by fellow Toyota drivers Reddick and Jones put the win in jeopardy. Briscoe held strong, fending off Reddick for the victory.
Not only does the victory add to Briscoe's tally in the crown jewel event, but it also punches his ticket into the Round of 12 in the NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs.
Reddick and Jones finished second and third, with Jones' LEGACY MOTOR CLUB teammate John Hunter Nemechek crossing the line fourth. A.J. Allmendinger rounded out the top five.
The NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs continue next Sunday, September 7, at World Wide Technology Raceway for the Enjoy Illinois 300. The green flag waves at 3 p.m. ET, with coverage on USA Network, the Motor Racing Network and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio Channel 90.
