NASCAR Cup Series Playoff Standings After Charlotte ROVAL

When the dust settled at the Bank of America ROVAL 400 at Charlotte Motor Speedway, the Round of 8 for the NASCAR Cup Series was decided.

Shane van Gisbergen's win in the race did not directly impact the playoff standings, as he had been eliminated following the Round of 16. However, he continues to battle for a final position in the championship standings, so the win was not without purpose.

Meanwhile, Denny Hamlin enters the Round of 8 as the points leader following the reset at the conclusion of the Bank of America ROVAL 400. Hamlin was sixth in the standings for the Round of 8, but safely advanced into the next round.

Ryan Blaney, Kyle Larson and William Byron join Hamlin as drivers on the right side of the cutline entering the Round of 8.

The most drama for the cutoff came between Joey Logano and Ross Chastain, with Logano advancing by four points following a last-lap incident between Chastain and Hamlin as Chastain fought for his playoff berth. Logano will start the next round 24 points below the cutline.

Christopher Bell, Chase Elliott and Chase Briscoe are also below the cutline entering next week. The Round of 8 starts with the South Point 400 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway on October 12, with the green flag waving at 5:30 p.m. ET.

The round also includes the YellaWood 500 at Talladega Superspeedway on October 19 and the Xfinity 500 on October 26 at Martinsville Speedway.
