Corey Day Signs Extension with Hendrick Motorsports, Making Cup Series Debut in 2027

Corey Day will make his NASCAR Cup Series debut in 2027 as part of a long-term contract extension with Hendrick Motorsports.

The Clovis, California native will compete for the NASCAR O'Reilly Auto Parts Series championship in 2027, behind the wheel of the No. 17 HendrickCars.com Chevrolet. He will also run a limited schedule in the NASCAR Cup Series, with details and events to be announced at a later date.

“When I joined Hendrick Motorsports, I knew I had a lot to learn. And I still do,” Day said. “But the people here have really embraced me and invested a lot of time in helping me grow, both as a driver and a person. Mr. and Mrs. Hendrick give us all the resources we could possibly need. I’m so grateful to them, Jeff Gordon, Jeff Andrews and the 500 teammates who put so much into our success. I’m focused on winning a championship together this year and bringing many more trophies home to Hendrick Motorsports in the future.”

Day first signed with the organization in 2024 and has been on a diverse path towards the Cup Series since then. During the 2025 season, Day won multiple times in Sprint Cars, made five CUBE 3 Architecture TA2 Series appearances (including a podium finish at Road America), and competed in the O'Reilly Auto Parts Series, NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series and ARCA Menards Series.

This season, Day is part of the 12-car field in the Chase for the O'Reilly Auto Parts Series with wins at Talladega Superspeedway and Dover Motor Speedway. He currently sits fifth in the championship standings following a second-place finish at Darlington Raceway.

The fact that he’s already competing for a championship at this level is extraordinary, and he’s just beginning to scratch the surface. Day's bid for a NASCAR O'Reilly Auto Parts Series championship continues on Saturday, September 12 at World Wide Technology Raceway in the Nu Way 225 Powered by Bobcat and Sauced by Blues Hog.
