With an off weekend for the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, Kaden Honeycutt paid a trip to victory lane at Montgomery Motor Speedway with the Rogers-Dabbs Performance Modifieds of Mayhem Tour powered by Chevrolet Performance.
Honeycutt dominated the 50-lap contest as part of Montgomery's Rumble by the River race night, scoring a convincing victory by nearly five seconds over Jared Maupin. It is Honeycutt's second win with the series in 2026, following a victory in the Hunt for the Bear 62 in March.
"Thank you to Stan [Narrison], everyone at Montgomery Motor Speedway for an amazing facility and an awesome race track to race on," said Honeycutt in victory lane. "I love running on these worn-out racetracks. Thank you to all the fans that showed up tonight. I know Stan appreciates all of you showing up and supporting weekly racing."
It is the fourth time Honeycutt has won in the John Heil-prepared Modified, as he also won a pair of features during the World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing at New Smyrna Speedway in February. The Texas native also sits second in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series championship standings, just one point behind Chandler Smith.
He hopes to continue pursuing wins with the Modifieds of Mayhem Tour as he schedule allows for the remainder of the 2026 season.
"John [Heil] does a great job for us," Honeycutt said. "I'm just really happy that we got another one. I wish I was gonna be at the Pensacola one to keep on the Mods of Mayhem Tour, but hopefully it gets rearranged, and we can come back. Great great car today, I appreciate John and my dad so much for the hard work.
"Honestly, the Modifieds, to me, are probably one of my favorite cars I've ever raced in my entire life. I'm very fortunate I've been able to drive what I have and race for amazing owners, Toyota Racing for allowing me to race their truck this year and TRICON."
Maupin finished second, bouncing back from a disappointing Hunt for the Bear 62 in the last Modifieds of Mayhem event. Maupin was collected in a multi-car incident that night, forcing his team to regroup ahead of Saturday's Rumble by the River.
"It was a scramble after the last race here, we tore that car up pretty bad. Got this car, worked really hard learning on how to configure it. I'm glad it's in one piece, second-place finish isn't bad for the first time in it.
"I work for him during the week, so we work on these cars real hard. I try to spend a little extra time over here, but it looks like he spent a little extra time, too."
Kevin Peel, a 2025 series winner at Montgomery, finished runner-up in the Hunt for the Bear and backed that up with a third-place showing on Saturday. He bounced back from a missed shift on a restart to finish on the podium.
"The car was good tonight," said Peel. "We got hung up in first gear on that restart. If I hadn't done that, I think we could have run second. I think Kaden was saving a little bit."
Derrick Griffin finished fourth, with Buddy Anderson completing the top five.
The Modifieds of Mayhem Tour heads to Five Flags Speedway on May 15 for the Beach Ball 50. They will be competing alongside the Allen Turner Pro Late Models on the Road to the Snowflake that evening. Fans can watch the event live on RacingAmerica.TV.
