Alan Bookmiller grabbed his second Race of Champions Sportsman Modified victory at Wyoming County International Speedway in as many years on Saturday night, winning the Father's Day 40 at "The BullRing."

Bookmiller held off Andrew Lewis, Jr. for the victory in the 40-lap feature, a little more than a year after winning the Hayburner 40 at the Perry, New York facility in 2024.

The Castile, New York driver inherited the lead on lap eight after an incident between Chris Finocchario and Evan Rygielski as those two drivers battled for the lead. Bookmiller led the rest of the way, but a slew of cautions kept him on his toes and wondering if he'd have enough to hold off Lewis, Jr. on the ensuing restarts.

"It's amazing what you can do to yourself under caution," said Bookmiller. "You're thinking, oh, is the car that good? Is it not that good? It had just passed four cars, all right, now I get 20 minutes. Lewis has a hell of a car."

Even with his trepidations about his car, Bookmiller knew he loves racing at Wyoming County. The 1/3-mile facility returned to the Race of Champions Family of Series schedule in 2023, but is a venerable racing surface that challenges drivers.

"You can run the bottom, the top, it's real racey," Bookmiller explained. "It's rough, it's worn out. You've got to drive the car. It's not, oh, the set-up is perfect, you've got the most horsepower. You've got to run the track."

Coming off a victory in the last RoC Sportsman event at Spencer Speedway, Andrew Lewis, Jr. settled for a second-place finish. He was grateful to avoid the attrition of the event and come away with a runner-up showing.

"It was a fun race," said Lewis, Jr. "Too many cautions, but we stayed out of trouble. We were fighting tight all day and got loose at the end. I think if we had a better car, we probably could have won."

Dan Majchrzak, who finished second to Bookmiller in last year's Hayburner 40, picked up a third-place finish on Saturday. Wyoming County is home turf for Majchrzak, and he left nothing on the table.

"I'm smoked," said Majchrzak. "I'm gassed. I've got nothing left. We had a really good car tonight. If it wasn't for the pit guys and the guys who spent all night in the shop with me, we wouldn't be here."

Defending series champion Kevin Timmerman finished fourth, with Bill Mislin rounding out the top five.

The RoC Sportsman Modifieds head to Holland International Speedway next Saturday, June 21 as part of the Sealmaster 100 program headlined by the RoC Modifieds. RoC's Street Stocks and FOAR SCORE Four-Cylinder Dash Series will also be in action.
