Jeb Burton hopes the second year of the State Water Heaters Krush 250 will feel like a throwback for fans and racers alike.
In 2024, Jeb and Ward Burton introduced the Orange Krush 200 at Orange County Speedway, supporting the Ward Burton Wildlife Foundation with support from Rogers Heating & Cooling. The event returns at a new home for 2025, moving north to Virginia's famed South Boston Speedway.
The Burtons have long called South Boston home, which makes it a great setting for the event in its second year. Competitors have responded in kind, with a stout field of Late Model Stock competitors expected for the event on Saturday, November 8.
"I'm just really excited to try to bring a lot of awareness to the Ward Burton Wildlife Foundation," said Burton at South Boston on Tuesday. "I really appreciate Rogers Heating & Cooling and State Water Heaters for putting it on.
"We've got a huge attendance with race cars and racers showing up. We've got 29 or 30 cars. Only 30 cars get to race. I hope we don't have to send anybody home if more cars show up. I'm really excited about this weekend and really appreciate South Boston Speedway for having us."
Burton hopes that field of cars, including several Late Model Stock standouts as well as NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Championship 4 driver Kaden Honeycutt, will put on a show reminiscent of days gone by at South Boston.
"I think it's going to be the old Bailey's 300," said Burton, recalling a past fall staple of the South Boston schedule. "That's what everybody used to love and I grew up racing that event. You get to race a day race. The only thing you're missing out on is being in the deer woods.
"I'm hoping we can get a lot of people to come out and support the WBWF. It should be a good event."
Last year, Honeycutt scored the victory in the inaugural Krush race ahead of Deac McCaskill and Bobby McCarty. Jeb Burton finished sixth, while Ward Burton finished 15th in his first race since 2012.
Honeycutt and McCarty are among the returning stars for this year's event at South Boston, as well as the likes of Mike Looney, Blake Stallings, and Stacy Puryear. Other Late Model Stock notables entered include Doug Barnes, Jr., Parker Eatmon, Jimmy Mullins and Jacob Borst.
While Ward Burton is not taking part in this year's event, he will be on hand, along with a host of special guests including fellow Daytona 500 winner Michael Waltrip and legends of Late Model Stock racing such as Timothy Peters, Lee Pulliam and Peyton Sellers.
