Bobby Santos, III Claims Another Must See Win at Berlin
Jun 7, 2026
Not even Mother Nature could stop Jake Finch at Montgomery Motor Speedway on Saturday night.
Finch is undefeated in the Show Me the Money Pro Late Model Series and has been nearly unstoppable in Pro Late Model competition during the 2026 season no matter where he shows up. Finch and the No. 18 Ronnie Sanders Racing team have established themselves as the gold standard for the discipline in the Southeast.
Finch had to wait a little longer than he hoped to battle for another Show Me the Money victory in Saturday's Disturbing the Peace 100. Shortly after he took the lead from pole-sitter Nicholas Naugle, an unexpected rain shower passed over Montgomery Motor Speedway.
Track officials dried the track as quickly as possible, and eight laps were completed under a green-yellow condition to aid the track-drying efforts and get racing back on track. When the race resumed on lap 17, it was all Jake Finch to make it three-for-three with the Show Me the Money Series.
"I wish we could have just kept going and not had the rain, so I appreciate everybody sticking out after the rain," Finch said in victory lane. "Hopefully, it was a decent show.
"At least it was fun for me. Good car. I thought we struggled a little bit. Luckily, we were a little bit better than the people behind us, but definitely need to work on a few things for the next one and just keep digging."
Despite his run of success, Finch isn't getting overconfident. He hopes to add an elusive Super Late Model victory to his collection next weekend during the Coca-Cola Twin Blizzard 100s at Five Flags Speedway.
"Just trying to keep my head down, keep doing the same thing I've been doing, and stick to the process and hopefully keep knocking them down," Finch said. "I definitely want to get a Super win here soon. We have next weekend in the Phoenix Racing 51 to get a good shot."
Brandon Lopez earned runner-up honors on the evening, but it wasn't without his own adversity. The Georgia driver spent the majority of the race without power steering, adding to his fight in his No. 6 car. For Lopez, the second-place result in spite of that was a testament to the strength of his car.
"We had a great race car tonight," Lopez said. "Unfortunately, we lost power steering right when we took the green there. The race car was great, I can't thank the guys enough. We worked real hard this week to get this thing right, and we knew we had a good piece.
"I wish we redrew a little bit better. That 18 is hard to beat, but I would have loved to have a better shot at it. Maybe next time."
After setting fast time in qualifying and drawing the number one starting spot in the redraw, Naugle finished third in the Disturbing the Peace 100. Making his debut at Montgomery Motor Speedway, the Nova Scotia native quickly became a big fan of the Alabama half-mile.
"We came here not knowing what the track would be like at all, never made laps at this place," said Naugle. "My team worked really hard to get us an awesome piece. It was awesome to be able to qualify faster than these guys. We faced a few struggles in the race, and I'm real happy that we managed to bring this home.
"I think I'm taking a liking to this place. I think you'll see me back here in another Pro race, maybe even a Super."
Weston Marthaler finished fourth, with Presley Johnson rounding out the top five.
Johnson played a key role in a pre-race tribute to the late Kyle Busch, with his car renumbered No. 51. Johnson led the field under the pace laps while carrying a Kyle Busch flag commemorating his 2015 NASCAR Cup Series championship.
"If I can spend $60 and put two 51s on my car and it spreads awareness to go to the doctor and get checked out," Johnson said while interviewed during the rain delay. "My dad's had heart problems, his dad's had heart problems. I know Kyle didn't pass from heart problems, but if $60 saves one life, I'll spend that $60 every day."
The Show Me the Money Series Pro Late Models return to action on August 15 with the Saturday of Speed Twin 73s. They'll be joined that night by Outlaw Late Models and Crown Stocks.
The next event at Montgomery Motor Speedway is America's 250th Birthday Bash on Independence Day, July 4. Outlaw Late Models, Late Model Sportsmen, Street Stocks and Crown Stocks will take the track that evening.
