Jimmy Renfrew, Jr. Dominates ACT Oxford 125
Aug 24, 2025
Evan Shotko claimed his third red jacket on Saturday night at Jennerstown Speedway, winning the Motor Mountain Masters for the third time in the past four years.
Shotko dominated the event at the .522-mile facility in Jennerstown, Pennsylvania, leading more than half of the race's 150 laps. He is the only repeat winner of the event since its inception in 2018, but he insisted in victory lane he'd have no problem taking another jacket home to Michigan.
After struggling to race up to his standards this year, the Motor Mountain Masters victory was a sweet one for Shotko.
"There's always more room for that third jacket," said Shotko. "This car was just on rails tonight. We've had a really tough year, so it's the longest I've gone without winning in my racing career. Our team buckled down, we put our heads down and spent a ton of money and time R&Ding, trying to get these cars right."
While the closing laps featured plenty of scuffles and attrition, Shotko stayed in front of the trouble, which he felt was half the battle on the night.
"We had a really good car," said Shotko. "I felt like, as long as we kept the nose clean and kept the toe straight, we had a shot at winning the thing. That's the biggest thing when you've got a car like that. You've got to keep the nose clean."
Albert Francis finished second to Shotko. While Saturday's race was not a points-paying event for the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour, Francis has previously finished on the podium twice with the series.
Coming close to yet another victory only adds to the hunger for Francis to find victory lane.
"It sucks being the bridesmaid, for sure," said Francis. "These big races, it's getting old being the bridesmaid. Our day will come. We just weren't good enough. The 22 was definitely a little better than us. We fired off with tires there, and I didn't have enough lateral grip. It showed. To come up second, it's good enough, I guess."
Jade Avedisian rounded out the podium. The California native rallied from going to the rear of the field after contact with Cory Casagrande while battling for third with 17 laps to go sent both drivers spinning on the frontstretch.
"I just need to work with myself and be better," said Avedisian. "I just need to learn where my nose is, where my fenders are. I've got to clean up my part and race better. Hats off to everyone at Wilson, obviously. They did a lot of work earlier to get me back out here."
R.J. Dallape finished fourth followed by Mike Sweeney.
The JEGS/CRA All Stars Tour will be back in action in one week's time at Kalamazoo Speedway for the Kalamazoo Metal Recyclers 125. Fans can watch the event on Saturday, August 30 on RacingAmerica.TV.
