ASA Southern Super Series Prepares for Georgia Summer Nationals This Saturday

This weekend brings take two for the ASA Southern Super Series' Georgia Summer Nationals at Cordele Motor Speedway, slated for August 22.

A field of more than 20 Super Late Model competitors is entered for the event, which was originally scheduled for Saturday, August 1. A poor forecast for that weekend led to the event being postponed to this Saturday, but a strong field of cars is still expected for the make-up date.

Bubba Pollard is the all-time wins leader at Cordele in Southern Super Series competition, with eight wins in the 19 previous events at the track for the series. He'll be seeking a ninth Cordele win on Saturday.

Stephen Nasse is also a former series champion and a former winner at Cordele, taking the checkered flag in the 2020 Georgia Summer Nationals. The winner of the first World Crown 300 at Cordele, Michael Hinde, will also be looking for more success at the Watermelon Capital.

Originally, Jake Garcia was entered for the Georgia Summer Nationals, as the race coincided with an off weekend for the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series.

While Garcia will now be occupied competing at New Hampshire Motor Speedway on the make-up date, the No. 35 Fr8 Racing entry will still be in the capable hands of Luke Yarbrough. Yarbrough won the first Rogers-Dabbs Performance Pro Late Model Challenge event of 2026 at Five Flags Speedway.

With ASA Southern Super Series points leader Tristan McKee also competing with the Craftsman Truck Series at New Hampshire, a new driver will leave Cordele atop the championship chase. Spencer Davis and Matt Craig enter the weekend second and third in points, with Pollard and George Phillips trailing behind them. Saturday's Georgia Summer Nationals could bring a huge shake-up to the championship battle.

Davis, Pollard and Yarbrough are part of a contingency of Peach State drivers hoping to keep the Georgia Summer Nationals trophy at home. Other Georgia natives in the field include Brandon Lopez, Hudson Bulger and Allen Gordon.

Coming off a pair of runner-up finishes in the Show Me the Money Series at Montgomery Motor Speedway last weekend, Jake Finch is hungry for his first ASA Southern Super Series win. The Florida native has been dominant in Pro Late Model competition throughout the 2026 season.

The Georgia Summer Nationals begin a stretch run to the ASA Southern Super Series championship. Following the Georgia Summer Nationals, the series heads to Mobile International Speedway on September 5 for the Battle on the Bayou. The ASA Southern Super Series then takes on Five Flags Speedway in the Blizzard Series' Night of Champions, the final stop on the Road to the Snowball Derby.

The 2026 ASA Southern Super Series champion will be crowned at Cordele on October 24 in the World Crown 300. After a decade away following the closing of Gresham Motorsports Park, the World Crown 300 returned to Cordele in 2024 and joined the ASA Southern Super Series calendar in 2025.
