Tanner Carter Prepares for Alabama 200
Mar 2, 2022
Another chapter in the storied record books of the Alabama 200 will be written with this Saturday's "Hunt for the Bear" at Montgomery Motor Speedway. Here are 10 things to know ahead of the 2022 edition of the race.
1 - The history of the Alabama 200 runs deep as this event was a NASCAR Cup Series race in the 1960s. Since then it has become a haven for the Late Model stars of the southeast. NASCAR Hall of Famer Red Farmer is a three-time winner of the event.
2 - There is a lot of money on the line for the Alabama 200, with $10,000 going to the winner. A $500 bonus will also be awarded for leading halfway.
3 - The Modifieds of Mayhem will be racing 58 laps on Saturday with a deep field that includes defending series champion Bill Burba, Jeff Letson, Kaden Honeycutt and five-time Alabama 200 winner Augie Grill.
4 - The popularity of this event has grown in strength as track management moved the race from the end of the season to the beginning of the season, making a big splash for Pro Late Models drivers who would see a log jam of bigger events in the fall. Nearly 40 drivers are on the entry list for this year's event.

5 - The name that we will all be looking at this weekend is Christopher Tullis, who won the Alabama 200 last year and has won the last two Show Me the Money titles at Montgomery Motor Speedway (AL). Tullis passed Chris Davidson for the win with two laps to go.
6 - Other big names in the Alabama 200 include Michael Hinde, Kaden Honeycutt, Chris Davidson, John Bolen, Cole Williams, Hunter Robbins, Jake Garcia and many others.
7 - This is the 58th running of the Alabama 200 at Montgomery Motor Speedway (AL). The main event will, of course, be a 200-lap event for the Pro Late Models as a part of the Show Me the Money Series.
8 - While it was his first win in the Alabama 200 back in 2020, Jake Garcia is actually aligned to more success in this historic race. Garcia’s crew chief, Ricky Turner, has won the race five times now with other drivers like Chase Elliott, Mason Massey and Anderson Bowen.
9 - Matt Craig led 117 laps in the Alabama 200 last year and failed to go to victory lane. This race will have a broken heart story like this every few years. Craig will be seeking redemption this year, and he will settle for leading one lap if needed.
10 - Racing America will have live coverage of the Alabama 200 at Montgomery Motor Speedway along with the Modified race and the Outlaw event during the same day.
