Stanton Barrett Motorsports announced on Thursday its plans to compete full-time in the Trans Am Series presented by Pirelli in 2026.
Veteran driver and team owner Stanton Barrett will drive the No. 88 Ford Mustang in his return to Trans Am competition. He made two Trans Am appearances in 2017, including starting on the pole with a new track record at Homestead-Miami Speedway on April 9 of that year.
The California native is also a veteran of several forms of motorsports, including 25 career NASCAR Cup Series starts and four NTT IndyCar Series races.
“I am excited to start 2026 with continued growth of the SBM organization with a variety of talented drivers and supportive sponsors in an industry I love,” Barrett said.
8T8 Energy Drink will be the primary season sponsor for Barrett's Trans Am efforts in 2026.
“As a veteran driver, Stanton understands that success in racing demands much more than horsepower,” said Acellis Director Quinn Matthews. “It requires sharp mental focus, rapid perception, decisive reasoning and the ability to execute split-second reactions under intense physical strain. 8T8 Elite Energy Drink, is designed to support this high-performance lifestyle, whether you are racing high-performance cars or living a high-performance life.”
The team also announced Graham Jacobsen will join SBM as a TA2 driver. Jacobsen, a 17-year-old competitor from Atlanta, Georgia, has earned podiums and pole positions across multiple series and cars, including Radicals, Miatas, and GT4.
“I am super excited to be running in TA2 with Stanton Barrett Motorsports,” Jacobson said. “I have high hopes for my rookie campaign, and I’m fortunate to be able to run a full season with such a reputable team. Can’t wait to see what’s to come for the future.”
In December, Stanton Barrett Motorsports announced a partnership with Cope Family Racing to field a full-time entry in the NASCAR O'Reilly Auto Parts Series in 2026. Carson Ware will pilot the team's No. 30 entry in the season-opening event at Daytona International Speedway.
SBM will also remain involved in the World Racing League and Historic Sportscar Racing.
