Silver Hare’s Winning Weekend: Harmon, Reif, Reaves Find Victory Lane in Trans Am Off Weekend

It was a great weekend to be from the Silver Hare Racing stable this weekend, despite the CUBE 3 Architecture TA2 Series being in an off week, with all three of the team’s drivers (Tanner Reif, Noah Harmon, and Max Reaves) going to Victory Lane in another division.

Noah Harmon, driver of the No. 7 CUBE 3 / High Point Rockers Chevrolet Camaro, took the off-weekend as an opportunity to jump over to the Whelen Mazda MX-5 Cup event at VIRginia International Raceway, where he collected his second win of the season on Sunday.

Harmon finished fourth in the first of two events on the weekend schedule at VIR, and then, when it came time to drop the green flag on Sunday, the 20-year-old driver turned up the wick, dueling with Jared Thomas over the course of the race’s final laps to produce a dramatic finish – a common thing in the Whelen Mazda MX-5 Cup – winning by 0.07 seconds.

“Two wins feels pretty good, especially here at VIR. I think winning Daytona was awesome, but it definitely has a luck aspect to it. It was a lot of fun to lead a lot of laps today and just be up front. Our car was really good at the end of the race, and I think that that gave us a big advantage and being out front toward the end, I just had the motor cooler than everyone else, and I think that really helped us down the back stretch and even the run to the line, just being that few degrees cooler than Jared [Thomas] and the guys behind."

The Silver Hare Racing driver also went to Victory Lane earlier in the season for Hendricks Motorsports, in the season-opening event at the Daytona International Speedway Road Course. Harmon, with three weekends remaining in the Trans Am by Pirelli campaign, sits fifth in CUBE 3 TA2 Series point standings.

Tanner Reif, driver of the No. 75 Silver Hare Racing Chevrolet Camaro, spent the weekend on the West Coast competing at Meridian Speedway, where he went to Victory Lane in a Legends Car event, winning the Snake River Showdown. Reif won the 35-lap Legends Car Feature over Shane Sawin, Austin Murphy, Tyler Monroe, and Chase Gilbertson. His victory from Saturday at Meridian was the continuance of an incredible week for Reif, who also won the Pro-Master Main at Magic Valley Speedway on Thursday (August 20).

Finally, Max Reaves, who competes part-time in the CUBE 3 Architecture TA2 Series for Silver Hare Racing, spent the weekend with his Joe Gibbs Racing counterparts in Illinois, competing at The Springfield Mile in the ARCA Menards Series, where he went to Victory Lane, albeit in somewhat controversial fashion.

The 16-year-old was dominant in Sunday’s 100-lap event in Illinois but was fighting for the lead late in the going with Nitro Motorsports driver Gavan Boschele, who ended up going for a spin in Turn 1 just moments after taking over the lead. That left Boschele, under the impression he had just been wrecked by Reaves, furious. The two had a quick discussion on the frontstretch before Boschele was escorted back to the garage.

“This is the most sound decibels we’ve gotten on the boo scale so far,” said Reaves post-race. “[With Boschele], he got under me off [Turn] 4 and I ran him down the straightaway. I’ve got to see the replay. I don’t know if I hit him going into [Turn] 1. If I did, my bad, but racing’s racing and we’re at a dirt track.”

Both Noah Harmon and Tanner Reif will return to action for the CUBE 3 Architecture TA2 Series at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park on Labor Day Weekend, with the event taking place on Saturday, September 5 at 2:45 PM ET on Racing America, RacingAmerica.TV, and @TheTransAmSeries on YouTube.
