Drissi Motorsports Scores Double Top-Five at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park

• Drissi Motorsports drivers Cole Moore and Tomy Drissi would finish fourth and fifth in the TA class in Trans Am racing from Canadian Tire Motorsport Park
• Moore, the current TA Cup points leader, made his milestone TA class debut with the team
• Drissi remains third in the TA championship with two races remaining

In front of a packed house of passionate race fans, Drissi Motorsports earned a pair of top-five finishes in the TA class in Saturday’s Trans Am action from Canadian Tire Motorsports Park. Incoming TA Cup points leader Cole Moore made his class debut and finished fourth overall in the team’s #9 Chevrolet Camaro, while 2009 Trans Am champion Tomy Drissi was scored fifth in class in the #8 Trench Shoring Company/Petersen Automotive Museum/Motul Chevrolet Camaro.

In the lone combination race of the season for the TA and TA2 classes, the duo would face the unique challenge of a larger set of opponents than usual. Drissi would lay down the fourth fastest lap time in qualifying, while Moore would qualify fifth, with both looking to lay down clean laps and take advantage of opportunities to pass and catch the leaders in traffic on race day.

They’d settle comfortably into those spots after the green flag and stay there until the first caution flag flew. Unfortunately, Drissi would pull into the pits during that caution, noting lingering issues with the left front of the car that had been bugging the team all weekend and proved to be unrepairable. That left Moore to carry the torch for the team, and he would maintain an impressive pace in his class debut to lock in fourth place.

“I’m very grateful for the experience to spend the time with Drissi Motorsports - hopefully we are building for more in the future together,” said Moore. “I’m focused on building and growing and taking the next steps to build a foundation as a Trans Am series driver.”

For Drissi, despite the early exit, he would retain his hold on third in the TA class standings by 21 points over David Pintaric. He’s taken eight top-fives in class in the 10 rounds of the season so far, with four of those being podiums.

“We had a long brake issue in qualifying that we don’t usually have. If we didn’t have that issue, we’d have been P3 to start the race. The Drissi Motorsports team works hard, and they went through the whole brake system before we came to the grid. I had a great fight with (Chris) Dyson, but then my wheel started pulling to the left. I was feeling like I could go out and win this, but it wasn’t meant to be.

“These things are monsters, and they tear themselves apart. There’s nothing like them on earth. Something broke in the front, and it’s like a domino effect. This is one of the most amazing tracks and the fans are great. The good news is Cole did great—I told him there were no team orders, he’d just have to work hard to pass me.”
