CUBE 3 Architecture TA2 Series
TeamSLR Takes Championship Fight to VIR
Sep 16, 2026
CUBE 3 Architecture TA2 Series championship contender Alon Day sat down with Racing America for a candid conversation about racing, life, the challenges he has faced, and the personal moments that have shaped his year.
Alon Day enters this weekend at VIRginia International Raceway chasing the CUBE 3 Architecture TA2 Series championship. The rookie and top contender for the CUBE 3 Architecture TA2 Series championship sat down with Racing America for a candid conversation about racing, life, the challenges he has faced, and the personal moments that have shaped his year.
Day, who drives the No. 17 JSSI/SLR-M1 Racecars Chevrolet Camaro, has spent 2026 in a back-and-forth championship fight with TeamSLR teammate Helio Meza. While Meza boasts seven wins in the first 10 races, Day's consistency offers him a 35-point lead entering Sunday's CUBE 3 Architecture TA2 Series race at VIR.
"I think it is more important to think about the long run," said Day. "At the end of the day, I just want to be earning points as much as possible. It works, you know? I'm leading the championship right now. Try to stay out of trouble."
While Day and Meza are battling one another for the title, Day offered high praise for his young teammate and their cooperative efforts to dominate the CUBE 3 Architecture TA2 Series in 2026.
"We have a good connection," Day said. "We have a really good connection; he's a good guy. I really think he has a bright future in front of him. He's an amazing driver. We work together, try to bring all three cars or all four cars, depending on the weekend, up together, and that's the reason why we are dominating."
Should Day maintain his advantage and claim the CUBE 3 Architecture TA2 Series championship, he'd consider it one of the greatest achievements of his career.
"It's been a tough year. Not only in racing, but overall. People don't understand how much you need to sacrifice to be able to race here. It would be a huge thing for me, a huge achievement."
