During the Snowball Derby Preview on Saturday at Five Flags Speedway, a millisecond was the difference for a $500 bonus.

Dustin Smith clocked in at 16.693 seconds during the “Money Run” for Super Late Models on Saturday evening. This was just one thousandth of a second quicker than Connor Okrzesik at 16.694 seconds. That fraction of a second was enough for Smith to claim the $500 prize for fastest lap in the session.

The Money Runs culminated a day of testing and practice at the Snowball Derby Preview, with teams across all divisions taking advantage of precious track time ahead of the 56th Annual Snowball Derby presented by Hooters and Safe Locator.

In the Pro Late Models, Terry Senneker set the fastest time during the Money Run, clocking in at 16.862 seconds. For that, Oakley won $300 as part of the Snowball Derby Preview.

Prizes were also on the line across the local divisions taking part in the Snowball Derby Preview. Other fast time winners included Kyle Purvis (Modifieds), Timothy Watson (Outlaws), Treyce Capers (Pro Trucks), James Patrick (Sportsman) and Robert Barber (Pure Stocks).

Teams that took part in the Snowball Derby Preview, plus many more, will return in less than two weeks' time for the 56th Annual Snowball Derby. The biggest event in pavement Late Model racing takes place on November 30-December 3, with feature racing throughout the week.
