Elliott's Last-Lap Pass Leads to Special Home State Win at EchoPark Speedway

The NASCAR Cup Series and NASCAR Xfinity Series added new winners to the Xfinity Fastest Lap award list over the weekend at EchoPark Speedway, while Corey Heim continued his dominant ways at Lime Rock Park.

John Hunter Nemechek set the Xfinity Fastest Lap in the Quaker State 400 Available at Walmart on Saturday night. Nemechek lapped EchoPark Speedway in 29.822 seconds on his 219th lap of the race.
Nemechek spent several laps behind the wall with damage following an incident on lap 176 with Ty Gibbs and Shane Van Gisbergen. While Nemechek finished 26th, but his time on track after the incident allowed him to set the fastest lap of the event. It is the first Xfinity Fastest Lap award for both Nemechek and his LEGACY MOTOR CLUB team.
The NASCAR Xfinity Series also competed at EchoPark Speedway over the weekend, with the Focused Health 250 on Friday evening. Austin Hill earned the Xfinity Fastest Lap on his 136th lap, with a time of 31.059 seconds.
Hill finished 26th, five laps down after suffering mechanical issues during the race. It is Hill's first Xfinity Fastest Lap Award of the season, and the first for Richard Childress Racing of the year. He is currently third in the championship standings for the series.
The NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series made its inaugural visit to Lime Rock Park in Connecticut for the LiUNA 150. Corey Heim dominated the event, scoring maximum points and leading 99 of the race's 100 laps.
As part of the 61-point race, Heim set the Xfinity Fastest Lap of 54.941 seconds around the 1.478-mile road course on the second lap of the race. The Georgia native now leads the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series standings by 144 points over Chandler Smith, with five wins in the first 15 races of the year.
The NASCAR Cup Series and NASCAR Xfinity Series head to Chicago, Illinois this weekend for the lone street course event of the year. The Loop 100 for the NASCAR Xfinity Series takes the green flag at 4:30 p.m. ET on Saturday, July 5, followed by the Grant Park 165 for the NASCAR Cup Series on Sunday, July 6.
