The NASCAR Cup Series and NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series battled at Richmond Raceway this weekend. Bubba Wallace earned his second Xfinity Fastest Lap award of the season, while Daniel Hemric claimed his first Fastest Lap of 2025.
Wallace set the Xfinity Fastest Lap in Saturday's Cook Out 400, with a time of 22.961 seconds on lap 81. Wallace was leading at the time of the lap, one of the 123 laps he led in Saturday's race.
However, a tire coming off his No. 23 23XI Toyota following a green-flag pit stop dashed Wallace's hopes of victory in the event. Instead, Wallace finish 28th, two laps down.
The 28th-place result snapped a streak of four consecutive top-10 finishes for Wallace, including the win in the Brickyard 400 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. He is currently 10th in the NASCAR Cup Series regular season standings with one race left before the start of the playoffs.
In the eero 250 for the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, Daniel Hemric set the Xfinity Fastest Lap with a time of 23.465. The fastest lap was a small bonus on an otherwise frustrating night for Hemric.
Hemric finished 33rd in the race, which fell apart from the very beginning with complications after a flat right-front tire on his No. 19. Hemric returned to the race many laps down after repairs, but set the Xfinity Fastest Lap in the process.
Friday's Craftsman Truck Series race was the final event of the regular season for the series. Hemric is part of the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Playoff field, holding the fourth seed in the field of 10 to start the postseason.
The NASCAR Cup Series and NASCAR Xfinity Series head to Daytona International Speedway this weekend. The NASCAR Xfinity Series races on Friday in the Wawa 250 powered by Coca-Cola, while the NASCAR Cup Series regular season concludes with the Coke Zero Sugar 400 on Saturday, August 23.
