Joey Logano and Chase Elliott won Thursday's Duels at Daytona, while Casey Mears and Anthony Alfredo earned starting spots in the Daytona 500 field.
An incident involving Bubba Wallace, Austin Dillon, Chris Buescher, William Byron and Chandler Smith brought the caution out on lap 57 of the first duel, sending that race to overtime.
Joey Logano scored the victory on the overtime restart, which ended after the white flag for an incident on the backstretch. That incident involved Corey LaJoie, thwarting his hopes to qualify for the Daytona 500 in a fourth RFK Racing entry. Instead, Casey Mears made his way through the wreckage to earn the Open qualifying spot out of the first duel.
While cautions shook up Duel 1, the second race of Thursday night went caution-free. Chase Elliott led the final six laps of the race to secure the victory. Anthony Alfredo initially earned the spot in the Daytona 500 field as the highest-finishing Open competitor, but his finish was disallowed following post-race technical inspection. This placed B.J. McLeod in the starting lineup for the Daytona 500.
The Daytona 500 takes the green flag on Sunday, February 15 at 2:30 p.m. ET. Coverage of the event will be on FOX, the Motor Racing Network and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.
