The highly anticipated Seaton Structure Modifieds season will come to a conclusion this Saturday during Sunset Speedway’s Championship Night. In the midst of his most notable season of modified racing to date, TJ Edwards will carry a 27-point advantage into the 2024 finale - as he pursues his second career modified championship.
“This has been an up and down season from start to finish and a win at Sunset would cap it off perfectly,” said Edwards. “It kind of sucks that rain plagued some of our races early in the the year, but it’s been a really good season for us, and our team is pretty excited heading into the weekend”.
Saturday’s 30-lap feature will be the team’s final home-track event of 2024. Once the checkered flag drops on Sunset’s ‘Night of Champions,’ Edwards and his crew will shift their focus to the OSCAAR Modified Tour Championship.
“We’re fortunate that Sunset and OSCAAR worked together on the schedule, so we’ve been able to compete in both local and touring series,” Edwards noted. “It’s been a packed season with multiple wins, and now it’s about carrying that momentum through the final stretch.”
Reflecting on his runner-up finish last year behind veteran driver Andrew Kamrath, Edwards emphasized the hunger for improvement. “We’re proud of last year, but no one races to finish second,” he admitted. “We’ve put everything into making sure we’re at our best this year and doing whatever it takes to secure that championship.”
