North East, Pa. – (September 5, 2025) – When the checkered flag waves on Saturday, September 13, it will mark the final running of the Race of Champions 250 in its traditional 250-lap format at Lake Erie Speedway in North East, Pa.
Modeled after the long-distance Modified classics once held at Pocono Raceway, the Lake Erie edition has quickly earned a place among asphalt racing’s crown jewels. Champions such as Matt Hirschman (Northampton, Pa.), Patrick Emerling (Orchard Park, N.Y.), and Andy Jankowiak (Buffalo, N.Y.) have conquered the event, each adding their name to the history books.
“250 laps is a long distance, but at Lake Erie it goes by quickly because the racing is fast, multi-grooved, and competitive,” said Jankowiak. “You need everything to go your way — and then some — to win it. It’s an incredible accomplishment and an amazing feeling. We’re looking forward to the challenge again this year.”
This year’s Race of Champions Weekend promises to be the biggest in history — a true three-day celebration of the sport.
