Carson Brown Flies to Winchester 400 Triumph
Oct 11, 2026
Ty Fredrickson etched his name into the Oktoberfest Race Weekend record books on Sunday, claiming the victory in the 57th Oktoberfest 200 at the La Crosse Fairgrounds Speedway.
Fredrickson was dominant in the 2026 edition of the Oktoberfest 200. The second-generation driver took the lead for the first time on lap 65, leading until a pit stop under caution on lap 84. He and Ty Majeski would later battle for the lead, with Fredrickson moving into the top spot for the final time on lap 120.
With the victory, Fredrickson becomes the youngest Oktoberfest champion in the event's history. His win also makes him and four-time Oktoberfest champion Dan Fredrickson the second father-son duo to claim wins in the event, joining Tom and Bryan Reffner.
"It's pretty badass," said Fredrickson in victory lane. "I watched my dad win this a handful of times. Now I get to join the Reffner family and be the second father and son to do it.
"Big thanks to my guys. Worked on this car, changed the motor at 2:30 in the morning Friday night and I'm glad they did."
Fredrickson had come close to Oktoberfest victories in both 2024 and 2025, but finally broke through for the marquee win this year.
"We've always been fast in the 200. In '24, I made a mistake. In '25, I was in the same position and had a tire go down. We finally got a clean race and ended up in victory lane."
Meanwhile, Majeski's pursuit of a sixth Oktoberfest crown came up one spot short.
"It was one of the better cars I've had here," said Majeski. "It just had a little bit different tendency than what we've had the last couple of years. I don't know that I could have played my cards any different.
"I thought the 36 was just a little bit better than us today. It just lacked a little bit of drive. He was a little bit tigther in the center, with more drive than me. As the runs progressed and heat cycles ensued on some of those longer runs, it just didn't quite have the forward drive.
"I was hoping that he would burn the right-front off, so I wanted to keep the pressure on him. He did a good job, made very few mistakes, executed good on the restart. I don't know what else I could have done other than, you know, be pretty dirty. A lot of respect up front for the win, congrats to the 36 team."
Justin Mondeik rounded out the podium, pleased to be in the mix throughout the race.
"I'd feel a little better if we won. Honestly, La Crosse has always been a really tough track for us. I felt like we brought a really good car this year. We finished on the podium, or at least top five, every single night this week. I'm just really happy with a podium run. Like I said, I would have liked to win, but to be mixing it up with Casey [Johnson] and [Jacob] Goede and Ty and Ty, good company to be."
With a fifth-place finish, Casey Johnson secured the Appalachian Sucker Punch ASA Midwest Tour title in a nail-biting championship fight. It is the fifth time Johnson has lifted the ASA Midwest Tour crown.
"It was a tough year," Johnson said. "We had a couple of DNFs that put us way behind. We've had good cars all year long, but so have Paulie [Shafer] and Penn [Sauter]. They were great competition. It was really fun racing with those guys.
"Coming into that 200-lapper, it was a lot of weight on your shoulders to run a smart race. We got her done. I can't thank my guys enough."
