Over the years, the racing world has been a sport known for racers helping racers when there is a need. It is not uncommon to hear of two drivers locked in a championship battle helping their competition make it on the racetrack when there is a problem. There is an unwritten rule that if you have a part or can help a fellow racer in need, you do it.

That philosophy will now extend to race sponsors. In a unique twist, the Pro All Stars Series and Oxford Plains Speedway have announced that Stearns and Daughters and Kennebec Equipment Rental have swapped their respective August and September dates.

In a year plagued with rainouts and re-schedules, both respective sponsors have been forced to re-schedule dates multiple times. In the latest round, The Stearns and Daughters 150 was postponed until September 7 while Kennebec Equipment Rental night had been moved to August 10. Due to a previous commitment, Stearns and Daughters representatives would be unable to attend their own race. In stepped Kennebec Equipment Rental General Manager Danny Morris.

“When I got the call that Travis and his staff would be unable to attend their event, I looked at my schedule and realized I was open. Stearns and Daughters is also a good customer of Kennebec Equipment Rental so it was a no-brainer for me to offer a swap of dates,” said Morris.

So with that, the wheels were set in motion. The Stearns and Daughters 150 presented by CLH will now be run on August 10th as a part of the prelude to the 250 weekend. Meanwhile, the Kennebec Equipment Rental 150 will move to the September 7th spot for their race.

One important note for the ease of paperwork is that the driver entry forms will not change. Drivers already entered in the September 7th race will REMAIN entered in that race even though the sponsorship has changed. Likewise, drivers entering in the August 10th race will still fill out the same entry form despite the name change.

“I am grateful to work with people like Danny Morris and the Mayberry family that can help us when we get in a pinch,” said Stearns. “Obviously the weather has put us all behind the 8 ball so its neat to be able to make this work for everyone.”

Oxford Plains Speedway hosts a special 100 lap Oxford 250 qualifier on August 9, before the Stearns and Daughters 150 kicks off on August 10. As the calendar moves into August, these are a couple of the last few tune-ups before the 52nd annual Oxford 250 on August 24.
