The third event in two weeks’ time, Vermont Construction night serves as the final in a busy three-race stretch for the Thunder Road faithful this Thursday, July 11. The rescheduled 45t Vermont Governor’s Cup 150 headlines Thursday’s show with NASCAR Xfinity Series Champion Cole Custer set to finally make his Thunder Road debut against the Maplefield/Irving Late Models in the final round of the inaugural Squier Cup Late Model Triple Crown!

The 45th Vermont Governor’s Cup headlines Vermont Construction night as a monumental event on the already stacked July calendar at the Nation’s Site of Excitement. Along with a rescheduled visit from an excited NASCAR Xfinity Series champion Cole Custer, Thursday’s Vermont Governor’s Cup also serves as the final round in the inaugural Squier Cup Late Model Triple Crown. Following Sunday’s 100 lap trophy dash, Williamstown’s Jimmy Hebert has sole control in the Squier Cup standings with Sunday’s winner Chris Pelkey just three points behind and fellow podium finisher Scott Dragon back eight points on the run-down.

Dragon will be hunting for his second consecutive and fourth overall Vermont Governor’s Cup, having joined father Bobby Dragon and Uncle Beaver Dragon on the iconic wins list. Former track champion Chris Pelkey will be digging deep for both the Governor’s Cup and the Squier Cup honors, as will Jimmy Hebert who is also still looking for his first career Maplefield/Irving Late Model win on the highbanks after an overpowering number of podium finishes over the years.

The Lenny’s Shoe & Apparel Flying Tigers had quite the shake-up following Sunday’s 40-lapper with point leader Sam Caron going down for the count just after the halfway point for a disappointing 20th-place finish. East Thetford’s Brandon Gray has motored himself into the point standing lead by a menacing 13-points over Caron. Defending champion Kyle Streeter has been putting up stronger runs over the last several weeks, digging in on his title defense and could be a threat to take his second win of the year on Vermont Construction night.

Also facing a point lead shake-up is the rk Miles Street Stocks. Point leader Trevor Jaques had a simply terrible points run on Sunday, finishing at the back of his heat race and getting collected in a late-race melee to limp home 21st out of 29 cars on Sunday. Bouncing back from a similarly costly performance last Thursday, Dean Switser has now closed to within nine points of Jaques lead with the Waterford driver looking for his second championship in the popular four-cylinder division.

Thunder Road is back in action this Thursday, July 11 for the rescheduled 45th Vermont Governor’s Cup 150 as part of Vermont Construction Night! The Maplefield/Irving Oil Late Models are set for a 150-lap showdown to determine the inaugural Squier Cup Triple Crown champion, all while battling reigning NASCAR Xfinity Series Champion Cole Custer! The Lenny’s Shoe & Apparel Flying Tigers and rk Miles Street Stocks continue their championship seasons for a three-division card with a special Thursday Post Time of 6:30pm.

Grandstands open at 3:45pm with Cole Custer signing autographs at the track from 5:15-5:45pm. Adult General Admission available for $20, kids 12-6 for $5 and, as always, kids 5 and under free! The Family Four Pack (Two Adults, Two Kids) is also available for $40.
