Robbins Wins Fall Brawl 100, Tullis Claims Third Show Me The Money Title

Hunter Robbins won his fourth Show Me The Money Pro Late Model Series race of 2023 at Montgomery Motor Speedway Saturday night, but Christopher Tullis took home the championship by crossing the line fourth in the Fall Brawl 100.

Robbins took the lead from Jonathan Knee on lap 48 of the 100-lap event and maintained the top spot through a series of late-race restarts. However, those late cautions allowed Tullis to improve from eighth place, one lap down, to fourth at the time of the checkered flag and claim the Show Me The Money championship. Tullis improved to third in the official running order following the disqualification of second-place finisher Dawson Sutton.

For Robbins, it was a successful ending to an incredible season at Montgomery, even if missing the season-opening Alabama 200 proved to be too much to overcome for the championship.

“We had a really good car tonight,” said Robbins in victory lane. “We wrecked this thing a couple of weeks ago, and that was the best thing that could have happened. All it did was make us better.

“Pretty excited to get back to victory lane. I can’t thank Ronnie Sanders enough and all these guys. The guys at Hamke Race Cars put this thing back together for us.”

Meanwhile, Christopher Tullis rebounded from a subpar qualifying effort that placed him 11th in the starting lineup to earn his third Show Me The Money title in the past four years. Tullis worked his way up to eighth during an 80-plus lap green flag run to start the race, but also lost a lap to Robbins.

A caution for Steven Chunn spinning in turns three and four allowed Tullis to rejoin the lead lap by virtue of the free pass rule. From there, Tullis successfully negotiated around a series of incidents and gained spots on the late restarts to take the title.

“Pretty sloppy night on our part,” said Tullis. “I don’t really know what happened or why we were so bad. We just kept chipping away at it. We knew if we got a caution, we’d at least have a shot. Then they started getting into each other and wrecking each other in front of us. I knew if I could keep my car out of all that, we’d have a shot.

“Hunter had a really good year. It’s rare you win four races and don’t win the championship. I’m proud of the year we put together. We had a lot of really good finishes. We had one that got away from us at the beginning and put us behind, or we’d have a bigger lead coming into the night.”

Gavin Graham finished second. Hudson Bulger finished fourth, with Connor Zilisch rounding out the top five.
