Spokane, WA – Nick Gibson had an outstanding 2022 season, winning the Hermiston Raceway (OR) Pro Late Model track championship, finishing as the championship runner-up with the Tri-State Challenge Series for Pro Late Models, and coming home third in his rookie season in the Northwest Super Late Model Series. His Super Late Model Series season included two top-five and six top-10 finishes in seven events. A 22nd at the “Leonard Evans Memorial 150” at the Wenatchee Valley Super Oval. was the only blemish on his record.

Gibson’s strongest runs came at Findlay Stadium Stateline Speedway (ID), leading 39 laps and finishing third in the Liberty Launch Academy 125”. In the “PCA 125” at Hermiston Raceway, he led 54 laps, ending up fourth. Outside the series he earned a Pro Late Model win at Hermiston, while racking up top-five finishes at Stateline and Hermiston in the Tri-State Challenge Series four-race schedule. For good measure he came home fifth and seventh in the Speed Tour Super Late Models at Merdian Speedway, in his only starts.

Gibson made his first start with the “Tour”, at the season opening “Apple Cup 125” at Tri-City Raceway at RMEC. Prior to that, Gibson had only run a limited schedule since his time in the now defunct Rocky Mountain Challenge Series from 2004 to 2008. He returned to part-time racing in 2016, participating in limited starts in the Speed Tour Modified Series through 2018. In 2020, Gibson teamed up with ZTR, racing at Meridian Speedway He finished eighth in the speedway’s biggest event, the “Idaho 208”. With his recent limited schedules, Gibson was pleased with how the NWSLMS season played out.

“I feel we did pretty decent considering it was out first year running in the northwest and with the lack of seat time I've had. The times we were in Wenatchee we had bad luck but overall, we learned a lot as a team. We are doing some things this winter that I think will really help us going into this next year, and I'm really excited!”

The 2023 Northwest Super Late Model Series season will get underway on April 2nd with the “Apple Cup 125” at Tri-City Raceway at RMEC. It will be the tenth season for the series and Gibson will be looking for his first series win and a championship trophy to store in his growing trophy case.
