Following a spectacular weekend at Oxford Plains Speedway in Maine, the American-Canadian Tour has a quick turnaround as they return to Vermont’s Thunder Road International Speedbowl this Sunday, September 1. The 46th edition of the Labor Day Classic 200 presented by NEFCU+VSECU serves as the second Monument Race of the season at Thunder Road with the name of Sunday’s winner forever etched into the locally quarried granite monuments at the Nation’s Site of Excitement!

Following a desperate jump to the bottom lane to take his second win of the season on Saturday, Dartmouth, Massachusetts-driver Derek Gluchacki is back in the hunt for the American-Canadian Tour championship against Center Conway, New Hampshire’s Gabe Brown. Although Erick Sands took the most-laps-lead point bonus on Saturday, Gluchacki made up ground in all other capacities, taking a heat race victory and the overall win in the Oxford 125 to become the first repeat winner in ACT competition this season.

Brown continues to hold a cushioned 21-point lead over Gluchacki and is one of the more confident of the Tour’s leading drivers when it comes to entering the Nation’s Site of Excitement. Brown had two top-10 finishes at The Road last summer and took third in May’s opening event this spring. Another driver to watch is Brown’s next-door neighbor D.J. Shaw. The defending champion has a hot set-up for the highbanks, driving a back-up car from shotgun on the field to a sixth-place finish in a weekly Thunder Road sprint back in July and would love to take another Labor Day Classic to complement his 2022 victory in the annual holiday event.

Standing on the outside looking in for the Rookie of the Year title is Shelburne, Vermont’s Kaiden Fisher while the 16-year-old currently leads the King of the Road track championship battle at Thunder Road. Fisher remains 114 points back to St. Johnsbury’s Kasey Beattie for the freshman title on the traveling international Tour and would love to be the first driver to grab both marquee championships. Both Fisher and Beattie have plenty of experience on the Quarry Hill oval but it’s go-time for Fisher as he looks to make it a summer to remember in ACT-sanctioned competition.

Among the stars ready to tackle the Nation’s Site of Excitement on Sunday, Quebec sends down Alexendre ‘Fireball’ Tardif coming off a strong third-place run last weekend in Oxford as well as Jonathan Bouvrette, Remi Perreault and The Iron Man Claude Leclerc. New Hampshire sends Erick Sands, Cam Huntress and Bryan Wall, Jr. with Jeremy Sorel and Cole Littlewood hauling in from Massachusetts. Former Labor Day Classic victors Brooks Clark and Bobby Therrien are also looking for another winning run with former ACT Champion Jimmy Hebert seeking his first Thunder Road Late Model victory.

The American-Canadian Tour is back in action on Sunday, September 1 with the 46th annual Labor Day Classic presented by NEFCU+VSECU at Thunder Road International Speedbowl in Barre, Vermont. The 200-lap affair will once again pit the best weekly warriors of the Nation’s Site of Excitement against the mighty touring teams as the international Tour hits the downhill slope in the championship chase! Post Time on Sunday, September 1 is set for 4:00pm with holiday weekend camping available at Thunder Road from Friday at Noon to Monday at Noon.
