Kyle Steckly claimed his third APC United Late Model Series win of 2025 on Saturday night, winning at Sauble Speedway and moving further up the all-time rankings in the series.
Steckly claimed the lead on lap 48 from Jake Sheridan and led the rest of the way in the APC Auto Parts Centres 100. It is Steckly's third win in the first six races of the 2025 season for the series.
However, Steckly didn't believe he would be in contention for the win following practice and qualifying earlier in the day.
"I definitely didn't think we had that good of a car to start the day. We were sixth in practice and third there in qualifying which was a bit concerning," said Steckly.
"Stuck with it, my 22 Racing guys never gave up, they gave me a really good car againstonight, and I'm happy to be back here in victory lane at Sauble Beach again. Obviously, the APC 100 is special with APC Parts Centres on the car here. Big thanks to them, everyone with the series, everyone who came out to support, it's a huge crowd tonight."
With the win, Steckly is now tied for second with fellow two-time series champion J.R. Fitzpatrick on the all-time wins list in the APC United Late Model Series at 11. Another two-time champion, Brandon Watson, holds the high mark with 19 career victories.
"I mean, the series is the most competitive series in Canada, by far," said Steckly. "To be second on that list in, I feel, a short period of time is really cool. I just love racing against this group of guys every week with this series, and doing it with my local guys.
Despite a runner-up finishing and leading laps, Sheridan left Sauble with frustrations over his car's performance throughout the day.
"I'm frustrated with our deal," said Sheridan. "We just didn't get any better all day. I'm happy it was still good enough for second. We'll take a good run. We've had a good year. It's not really any consolation, but we're trying as hard as we can. You've got to take the wins and the seconds, I guess."
Jo Lawrence methodically worked his way up to the third position on what was otherwise a rough-and-tumble night at the races at times.
"We unloaded not very good, I'm not going to lie," said Lawrence. "These guys worked their butts off all day, I think. Wholesaled it right before qualifying, then I messed up in qualifying laps, so that probably kind of put us a little further back. We had a good car, and it's just really nice to get up here in the top three. Obviously, just a stacked field of a lot of good guys."
Josh Stade and Junior Farrelly rounded out the top five.
Steckly will have another shot at a Sauble victory on Saturday, August 23 when the APC United Late Model Series returns for the Stewarts & Kubota 100. Fans can watch that race live on RacingAmerica.TV.
