Jake Sheridan Kicks off 2024 Season at Sunset Speedway

Sunset Speedway will be the first stop of an exciting season for Kendra Adams and her number 2 Pro Late Model. The start of her 13 race program will be May 4th for the Steve Slaughter Classic, a 100 lap invitational event at Sunset Speedway.
Being her home track for 12 years she is feeling prepared and excited for her debut in the Pro Late Model division, as this car is new to her and her team for 2024. 2023 was Adams’ 6th season in her Limited Late Model, with the last season competing against the Pro Late Model field due to the close of the Limited division.
The invitational will invite many big names alongside the expected Sunset Speedway regulars. At the time of this release there are 25 cars registered for the event, Adams speculates “This event is big, there are so many names that are returning to short track racing after having dominating careers in the past. Usually we see these car counts in the APC Series- but not at a home track event, so I’m excited to say the least.”
The last few years Ontario has seen a slow uptick in car counts across the province, but this event will be a bench marker for the 2024 season. The 100 lap event is going to be a great test for the driver of the 2 Pro Late Model as she will be competing against many teams she expects to run against in her APC United Racing Pro Late Model debut on May 18th, also at her home track of Sunset Speedway. “I was feeling pretty anxious and nervous to see how we stack up against the APC field later in the month but now i'm thinking i’m going to feel pretty confident come May 18th as we will have 2 nights under our belt and our opener is against some wicked talented teams.”
2024 marks the 50th Anniversary of Mobil 1 - the main driving force behind Adams and her racing career. The brand has been supporting Kendra for 10 years this year, she’s “thrilled to be able to continue to showcase this beautiful racecar and old school pegasus trademark.” for their golden anniversary.
