J.P. Crabtree Fulfills Dream, Wins Redbud 400 Late Model Feature at Anderson

J.P. Crabtree has spent years chasing a win in the Redbud 400 at Anderson Speedway. On Saturday night, his dream finally came true.

Crabtree prevailed during a chaotic finish to the Vern's Concrete Late Model portion of the 60th CB Fabricating Redbud 400. It marked his first win the event he had entered eight times since 2015.

With a new format for 2026, the Redbud now featured 200-lap features for the Late Models and Street Stocks. Crabtree's victory resulted from patience displayed throughout 200 laps on the tight Anderson Speedway quarter-mile.

"I can't believe it, man," Crabtree said in victory lane. "We were just trying to bide our time the first half of the race. Man, they were really putting down some laps up front way faster than I wanted to run. I can't believe we did it. This is what we work for. We spend a lot of time in the shop, work 50 hours a week and another 50 in the shop, you know?"

Crabtree was one of a handful of drivers to attempt double-duty on the night, competing in both the Street Stock and Late Model features. With a seventh-place finish in the Street Stock, Crabtree was the only driver to complete all 400 laps on the night.

"I was a little disappointed when they broke it up into the two races, which I understand. That's what pushed me to try to find a ride. I couldn't have done it without Mike Crisp. He gave me a ride for the Street Stock race."

With his methodical strategy, Crabtree lingered in the bottom half of the top 10 for most of the race. He began his push to the front in the final 40 laps, then cashed in as Jack Dossey, III and Cassten Everidge's battle for the lead took both drivers out of contention for the win.

Crabtree moved into the lead as the two drivers made contact battling for the top spot, just before a yellow flag for a separate incident on lap 159. From there, Crabtree held on to the top spot to score the win.

"Cassten and Jack, man, they were running hard. I hope you guys liked that racing, because from where I was sitting, it was pretty good."

Terry fisher, Jr. finished second, rallying from falling a lap down to nearly winning the Late Model Redbud.

"It was so up-and-down, it was a blast," Fisher said. "To go from a lap down, just coming back, and all of a sudden, we're sitting second before you know it with 40 to go. The car was still really good. I just started losing the nose behind J.P.

"We were a little bit better through the center. That's where we were gaining him, and then we started losing the nose. Coming back from a lap down and all that, surviving the race, running 200 laps, I can't be any more proud."

Despite the repeated contact and frustrations with Everidge, Dossey finished third in the race. He did not mince words in his post-race frontstretch interview.

"Guy's just an idiot, man," said Dossey. "I don't put up with that kind of stupidity. I ran him clean, I passed him clean on the high side. He ruined my night, so I made sure to ruin his, that's all I've got to say.

"We don't got a lot of money, but we've got a lot of heart. We put it all on the line tonight. Another Redbud that we didn't get the results we deserved for the work that we put in, but that's alright. We will try again next year."

Billy Hutson finished fourth, with Cassten Everidge rounding out the top five.

Ryan Amonett won the Street Stock feature for the Redbud 400, and climbed behind the wheel of the No. 47 Late Model entered by James Kirby, III hoping to go for a sweep in the event. However, his night ended early, as well as several others involved in a lap one incident.
