Winchester, IN – The owner of Wilson Motorsports is getting back behind the wheel himself at Winchester Speedway.

Donnie Wilson trades his owner’s hat for a helmet to compete in the ASA/CRA Super Series race at Winchester Speedway as part of the World Stock Car Festival. It will be Wilson’s first start of 2023 and first race since Labor Day weekend in 2022 at Mobile International Speedway.

Wilson is an accomplished driver himself. He won the 2016 ASA Southern Super Series championship and the 2017 All American 400 at Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway. He has one CRA win to his credit, coming in a combination event with the Southern Super Series at Nashville.

In recent years, he has stepped away from driving to focus on ownership duties. With the help of Crew Chief Bond Suss, Wilson Motorsports has a Winchester 400 win with Sammy Smith and a Snowball Derby win with Chandler Smith, both coming in 2021. Additionally, Wilson also has wins as an owner in big races such as the Florida Governor’s Cup, Redbud 400, Money In The Bank and Tar Heel 250.

He sits second and third in the ASA STARS National Tour owner’s standings with Cole Butcher and Gio Ruggiero, the latter of whom also holds the driver points lead with both the ASA/CRA Super Series and Southern Super Series. Ruggiero will also join his car owner for Sunday night’s race.

The World Stock Car Festival will see all four CRA divisions in action Saturday and Sunday, September 2-3 at Winchester, along with the Midwest Modifieds Tour and Vores Compact Touring Series. The event serves as a warm-up for the Winchester 400 weekend on October 13-15.

The JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour will highlight night one of the World Stock Car Festival with their 100-lap feature alongside the Vores Compact Touring Series and Thunder Roadsters. Sunday night will see the ASA/CRA Super Series, CRA Late Model Sportsman, and CRA Street Stocks in action with the Midwest Modifieds Tour. Racing starts at 7:00pm Saturday night and 5:00 Sunday.

Additional information on the World Stock Car Festival can be found on CRA and Winchester Speedway channels. Log onto www.CRA-Racing.com, find CRA: Champion Racing Association on Facebook and follow @CRARacing on Twitter.
