Ross Chastain Itching to Get Behind The Wheel at SpeedFest

Dawson Sutton logged the fastest lap of Thursday's optional practice day for Protect Your Melon - Buckle Up SpeedFest at Crisp Motorsports Park.
While Protect Your Melon - Buckle Up SpeedFest at Crisp Motorsports Park doesn't officially begin until Friday, more than 50 teams between Super Late Model and Pro Late Model competition took advantage of an optional practice day on Thursday.
All four of SpeedFest's divisions enjoyed rotating rounds of practice throughout the day, preparing for qualifications on Friday and racing on Saturday at the 3/8-mile facility in Cordele, Georgia.
On the Super Late Model side, Dawson Sutton logged the fastest lap of the day, clocking in at 15.820 seconds during the fifth and final round of practice for the day. Sutton is making the jump to Super Late Model competition in 2024 under the Rackley W.A.R. banner.
Jett Noland was second-quickest, also setting his fast lap during the fifth round of practice. A pair of veterans, Casey Roderick and Bubba Pollard, were third and fourth respectively in the combined results while logging their fast laps in the first practice session of the day. Timothy Watson rounded out the top five.
Seth Christensen, last year's winner in the Alabama 200 at Montgomery Motor Speedway, paced Pro Late Model practice with a time of 16.071 seconds.
