Kinston, AL (March 13, 2022) – Oakdale, California’s Blaine Rocha has quietly eased his way to the top since he arrived at South Alabama Speedway on Thursday.

The Rackley W.A.R. team has taken advantage of every practice session to find speed, and topped the leaderboard on Friday in fast times.

Rocha hails from the Spears SRL Southwest Series, where he and Allen began working together in 2016. The 23-year-old won his first race in Las Vegas with Allen as his crew chief.

He claimed his place with Rackley W.A.R. in his very first outing with the team’s driver development program with a Pro Late Model win at Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway in August last year. He says he’d like to add another trophy to the team’s showcase today for the 46th running of The Rattler and says the key today is patience.

“I’m super-excited to get the race going today. It’s a long race so we just have to be patient and stay on the lead lap. The team has worked hard all weekend and we finally feel good about the car. We are running against some of the best in the country this weekend, and I think we have a good shot. It’s my first time here so just hoping for a good finish.”

The Super Late Model teams are limited to 10 tires today. The Rackley W.A.R. team doesn’t have a bank of tire history to rely on being Rocha’s first race here, so they are working their plan until they have to adjust, Rocha said.

“This track is pretty hard on the right front [tire] but we also don’t have those notes to say, ‘hey we won’t do that again.’” “But we’ll try to keep the best track position we can for the first 125 laps, make some adjustments when we put on the new set, and hopefully we’ll be right there at the end. I know if we do have to change our strategy today, the guys will be ready.”

The green flag flies for the Rattler 250 sanctioned by the Southern Super Series, at 2 p.m. CST today. Flag-to-flag coverage is available via live stream at RacingAmerica.com.
