Race Results: NASCAR Cup Series Cook Out 400 at Martinsville

Chase Elliott capitalized on strategy and a well-timed caution to pick up his first win of the 2026 season in Sunday's Cook Out 400 at Martinsville Speedway.

The sport's perennial Most Popular Driver pitted earlier than most of his competition during a green-flag pit cycle in the final stage, using those fresh tires to jump from ninth to first during the cycle. Before Denny Hamlin and others on fresher tires could catch him, the caution flew on lap 312 for debris.

That gave the field a reset, and Elliott stayed ahead of Hamlin to earn his 22nd career NASCAR Cup Series win.

Hamlin finished second, followed by Joey Logano, Ty Gibbs and William Byron. Hamlin won the first two stages of the race and led 292 of the race's 400 laps.

The NASCAR Cup Series will enjoy an off weekend before returning to competition on Sunday, April 12 at Bristol Motor Speedway. Coverage of the Food City 500 will be available on FS1, the Performance Racing Network and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.
