Darius Rucker Joining LEGACY MOTOR CLUB Ownership Group

Darius Rocker shared on Wednesday that he is now part of the ownership group for LEGACY MOTOR CLUB.

Rucker revealed the news while appearing on the Dan Patrick Show, wearing a LEGACY MOTOR CLUB hat during the interview. The three-time Grammy Award-winning artist shared he is good friends with Jimmie Johnson, and had cleared the announcement with Johnson prior to the interview.

“We can announce now that I’m one of the investors and one of the owners of LEGACY MOTOR CLUB,” Rucker said. “So, you know, I own NASCAR teams now, Dan. Look at me.

"It's cool. You know how much I love motorsports. You know how much I've loved NASCAR for years, so this is pretty cool for me."

LEGACY MOTOR CLUB fields two entries in the NASCAR Cup Series. The team's No. 42 Toyota is driven by John Hunter Nemechek, while the No. 43 Toyota is piloted by two-time Southern 500 winner Erik Jones.

The team also fields a third part-time entry, the No. 84 Toyota, driven by Johnson. The seven-time NASCAR Cup Series champion will compete in select races this season and took part in the season-opening Daytona 500.

A long-time racing fan, Rucker joins the list of celebrity team owners who have been involved in NASCAR in recent years. NBA legends Michael Jordan and Brad Daugherty are currently among the list of team co-owners in the sport, and fellow musician Pitbull was co-owner of Trackhouse Racing 2021 until 2025.

23XI Racing, the team co-owned by Jordan and NASCAR Cup Series competitor Denny Hamlin, won its fourth race of the 2026 season on Sunday with Tyler Reddick. Reddick joined Dale Earnhardt and Bill Elliott on the short list of drivers who have won four of the first six races to start a NASCAR Cup Series season with his victory at Darlington.
