10 Things to Know: Allen Turner PLM Round Three

The Allen Turner Pro Late Model Series returns to action this weekend at Five Flags Speedway, continuing the road to the Allen Turner Snowflake 100 in December. Here are 10 Things to Know about Friday’s Allen Turner Pro Late Model event.

1 – Some of the names the track is expecting this weekend include Nashville Pro Late Model champion Dylan Fetcho, 2020 track champion Chris Davidson, Alabama native Connor Okrzesik and several other Pro Late Model standouts.

2 – The backdrop for this weekend is the historic high-banked half-mile Five Flags Speedway in Pensacola, Florida. The track is a speed plant, but it’s abrasive on the tires and requires a crafty combination between skill and saving tires for the long-haul.

3 – Looking at the Pro Late Model points, Matt Craig holds a five point lead over Connor Okrzesik and six over Charlie Keeven. Behind them there are just 20 points separating 10th all the way back to 18th.

4 – Last night, Chris Davidson led the optional practice over Kyle Plott, Blaine Rocha and William Sawalich. We will see how those drivers shake things up tonight.

5 – This is the next to the last race for the Allen Turner Pro Late Models. Five Flags Speedway will host the regular season finale on October 2nd in the Allen Turner Tune-Up. This, of course, is the final race before the prestigious Allen Turner Snowflake 100, the big race the night before the Snowball Derby.

6 – John Bolen will be one to watch this weekend. Fans who have been around the sport a while know that Bolen has been strong at Five Flags in the past. Speed51.com caught up with him earlier this week.

7 – The Allen Turner Pro Late Model race will be 100 Laps

8 – The history of the Pro Late Model goes back to 2005 when the class was first introduced. Second-generation driver Brandon Carlson was the champion that year. Prior to that the Super Late Model were the weekly class and those dates go well back into the 1960s.

9 – Fans can watch live coverage on Speed51.tv – It’s free for monthly and yearly subscribers.

10 – The rest of the racing cars on Friday night at Five Flags Speedway will feature the Sportsman, who will go 25 laps and the Pure Stocks will be going 20 laps after the main event.
