LAKE VIEW, SC (May 13) – Pendergrass, GA’s Jeff Oliver led flag-to-flag to take the Carolina Sprint Tour win Saturday night in Pop Hahn’s Open Wheel Madness at Lake View Motor Speedway.

After winning their respective heat races, Oliver and Sean Vardell led the field to the green flag for the 25-lap feature. Oliver stretched the lead to more than a straightaway over Vardell in the first 10 laps before narrowly missing the spinning car of Dewey Townsend in turn one. Vardell’s runner-up finish expired with three laps to go due to a mechanical failure. Following Oliver at the finish line were John Frutchey, Nate Emig, Ben McCall, and Rich Wisdo.

Jonathan Ward got the advantage on pole sitter Donavan Jackson and never looked back to score his first career Mid East Modified Tour win. Behind Ward and Jackson at the finish were Ryan Morgan, CJ Sweatt, and Tyler Davis.

Cameron Norris, IV led every lap from the pole for his first Street Stock win of the year. Season dominator Daryl Moran’s hopes for another win took a major hit when he got caught up on the first lap and spun with Brian Doyle in turn two. Behind Norris in the finishing order were Michael Butler, Joey Wilkes, Chris Powers, and Moran.

After a disqualification in post-race inspection, Tom Lovett found himself in victory lane following the Stock V8 feature. Rocky Gasque entered the race undefeated in 2022 and by rule, had to start at the rear of the field. Gasque was up to fourth by lap four but a tap from Jason Floyd sent him spinning in turn two. Following Lovett to the finish line were Chip Fenoff, Blaise Bryant, Floyd, and Ashley Best.

Defending track champion, Derek Kemper, took advantage of contact between the leaders on the opening lap and led the rest of the way for his first SCDRA Morrisonbuilt Performance Sport Compact win of the year. The race started with front row starters Sean Vardell and Dalton Hodge making hard contact in turn three. Hodge recovered to finish second over Trent Herring, Jason Brown, and Cameron Bosworth.

The Mod Lites were a late addition to the racing card and Donavan Jackson was able to score the win over Bladen Core, Morgan Johnson, Steve Dunn, and Justin Clark.

Nathan Cumbee joined his dad, Bell & Bell Vintage Pro Modified winner Jeremy, in victory lane by taking the victory in the Jr. Mini Sprints. Rounding out the top five were Taniyah Keith, Clay Blackwell, Wyatt Davis, and Cameron Dove.

The Kona Ice Powder Puff division was on track again and Tonya Jordan came out on top for her second win of the year. Rounding out the top five were Selena Moreno, Tonya Strickland, Grace Mercer, and Laurie Brown.

The next event on the schedule at Lake View Motor Speedway will be Pop Hahn’s Military Appreciation Saturday night, May 28th, featuring the Carolina Clash Super Late Models racing for $5,000 to win.
