  • Tomy Drissi finished second in Sunday’s Trans Am round at Road America
  • It was his second runner-up result of the 2026 season, as well as his best-ever finish at the Wisconsin road course
  • Drissi remains third in the TA championship heading into July’s doubleheader at Watkins Glen

2009 Trans Am champion Tomy Drissi scored a new personal best finish at Road America for the second time in as many years, and matched his best finish of the season in the process, in Sunday’s Trans Am action at the iconic Wisconsin road course. After finishing fourth with a thrilling last-lap pass last year, Drissi and the #8 Trench Shoring Company/Motul/Petersen Automotive Museum Chevrolet Camaro crossed the finish line in second place, joining his Lime Rock Park finish as second runner-up result of the year.

Drissi would qualify third in the premier TA class and fourth overall and set his sights on TA Cup class leader Cole Moore right off the green flag. He’d spend much of the early part of the race shadowing Moore, finally making the pass for third overall in Canada Corner on Lap 12. When Paul Menard’s tire went down just past the halfway point, Drissi would move up to second place and work on pulling away from third place David Pintaric.

A major late-race incident would bunch the field back up for a one-lap shootout, with the lapped car of Menard the only thing standing between Drissi and leader Matthew Brabham. Drissi would have an easy defense of the spot on the final lap as Pintaric and Colin Comer had an incident behind him, giving him second place on the podium for the second time in three events.

“It feels really good!” Drissi said from the podium. “I think we got two laps each session, we had some gremlin, but the Drissi Motorsports team found it late last night so we had a car to go to battle with. Cole in that Cup car, he’s a shoe. The TA cars probably last a little longer with the downforce, but he gave me everything and it took a little while to get by him. Then I look up and go ‘where’s Pintaric coming from? I thought he was gone!’

“Thank you to Trench Shoring, Motul, the Petersen Museum, and especially the Drissi Motorsports team. Lacy, Jagger, Elin, I love you!”

Drissi remains third in the Trans Am championship standings with four podiums in seven races, having slightly extended his lead over Pintaric with the result at Road America. He’ll have a chance to extend that gap even further at Watkins Glen International on July 16-19, taking on a doubleheader event at a track where he scored a popular victory in 2018 and finished fourth last year. Tickets and camping are available now for the event, which will also feature a pre-event party, Saturday morning Cars and Coffee, and track touring lap opportunities.
