Nitro Motorsports completed a busy and productive race weekend, competing at Sonoma Raceway in the CUBE 3 Architecture Trans Am Series Presented by Pirelli, the ARCA Menards Series at the Talladega Superspeedway, and fielding an entry at Circuit of the Americas in the Toyota GR Cup North America.
“It was a busy weekend across the board,” explained Nitro Motorsports Co-Owner Nick Tucker. “We were in it to win it in several different series but didn’t have the luck to find the top step of the podium this week. Nitro Motorsports showed speed to compete, and we will continue pushing.”
Joe Tovo echoed Tucker’s comments, “It is difficult to run up front at one series, and Nitro Motorsports continues to prove that they can do it in many, all at the same time. This is a testament to this team, the preparation, and the hard work. On to the next one.”
Read about the race weekend below.
ARCA Menards Series
Nitro Motorsports turned in a strong overall performance in the ARCA Menards Series at Talladega Superspeedway, placing two cars inside the top-five in one of the most unpredictable races on the calendar. Gus Dean led the team with a third-place finish, while Isabella Robusto followed closely in fourth after leading six laps during the event. Jake Finch added a solid 12th-place result, and Jake Bollman came home 18th. The team showed speed from the outset of the weekend as well, with Bollman starting second and Nitro placing multiple cars near the front before converting that pace into a pair of podium-contending runs when it mattered most.
Toyota GR Cup – Circuit of the Americas
Nitro Motorsports fielded a single entry for Jay Thomas, who delivered two impressive comeback drives through the field. In Race One, Thomas charged from the back of the grid to finish 12th, showcasing strong race pace and racecraft, securing his best result of the 2026 season. He followed that performance with another determined drive in Race Two, once again advancing from the rear of the field to finish 17th, earning the Hard Charger award for gaining the most positions.
Trans Am – Sonoma Raceway
At Sonoma, Nitro Motorsports fielded a multi-car effort with strong qualifying performances across the board. Sam Corry led the team in qualifying with a fifth-place effort, followed by Ethan Tovo in seventh, Jackson Tovo in eighth, and Vinnie Meskelis in tenth. Gian Buffomante qualified 12th, with Seamus McKendree 21st and Cale Phillips 23rd.
Race One saw Corry lead the team with a strong fourth-place finish, just missing the podium. Meskelis followed in seventh, with Jackson Tovo finishing eighth and Ethan Tovo ninth as Nitro Motorsports earned 40% of the positions in the top-ten. McKendree crossed the line in 20th, Buffomante in 21st, and Phillips in 32nd.
In Race Two, Corry once again delivered a fourth-place finish, with Meskelis improving to fifth. Jackson Tovo crossed the line tenth, while McKendree advanced to 17th. Ethan Tovo finished 26th, after running inside the top-five but falling victim to an electrical issue, followed by Buffomante in 27th and Phillips in 33rd.
With strong performances across three major race weekends, Nitro Motorsports continues to build momentum across its diverse racing programs as the 2026 season progresses. Nitro Motorsports will now shift its focus to its next event in the ARCA Menards Series at Watkins Glen International on May 7 and 8.
